Contact Dana Ainam, ICW Supervisor at 503-879-2037. mm Dear Tribal members: I have determined that it would be in the best interest of my family to withdraw from the 2003 Tribal Council Election. I sincerely apologize to all of you who have supported me in the past, and to those who would have voted for me this year. I regret that I did not come to this realization prior to nominations. Thank you all for your sup port in the past. I urge all Tribal members 18 years of age and above to vote. If you are not registered to vote, please take a few minutes of your time to do so. Voting is an important responsibility we all owe to one another. Please also take the time to select your candidates very carefully. All of our futures will be impacted by the selection of our leadership. We need strong, wise and honest people guiding the future of our Tribe. Take a hard look at what people have done to further the betterment of the Tribe in the past. Anyone can be critical and negative, but if you see negativity from a candidate, you will see the same behavior from that person as a council member. Please ask yourself what is more important, critical think ing, or negative criticism of all that is done. Please take the time to seek out the facts. Many candidates may claim they wish to inform you of any number of issues, but unscrupulous people are not above deception to further there own personal goals, and further their true and hidden agen das. Do we need more problems, or are we looking for realistic solutions? Thank you for your time. , Respectfully, Tim E. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Sincerely, Contract Health Services My name is Marissa Brandon. I'm writing in concern for my father, Jerry Brandon's grave. As you all know, my dad passed away, Septem ber 25, 2001. I'm telling you readers out there, that the Friday before Memorial Day, a few possessions given to my dad were taken. As you may be aware that this has affected me and my family. These possessions had a great deal of sentimental value and they meant a lot to me and my family that my father could carry on with such a small portion of what he left behind. I am not asking for excuses or a reason why someone would do such a selfish thing, I would just like what rightfully belonged to my dad put back on his grave. I'm not certain if the thief is out there reading this article or not, but if you happen to get a look at this please, know that. I truly believe you have enough decency and respect to do the right thing and return it, no questions asked. My father taught me that our Tribal cemetery was a place that is sacred. A place where people could leave things for their deceased loved ones with no thought of them being stolen. My dad also said that a Tribal cemetery, was a place for sacred remembrance. And I know that my dad was not wrong! I appreciate Smoke Signals for their generosity by letting me put into words the sorrow that this person has caused my family. God bless! Marissa A.
