A special thank you,
Saturday at the Klamath Community Treatment Center Pow-wow, I
asked the Pow-wow Committee if we could do a special blanket dance for
the Loren Davidson Family. Marce Norwest told everyone what had hap
pened to this family and why we were doing the blanket dance. The
blanket was carried by the Grand Ronde Royalty Court, Brandi Little,
Junior Miss Grand Ronde, Tenisha Rios, Little Miss Grand Ronde, Sheena
Johnson, Miranda Provost, Victoria Rios, and Melissa Biery, Grand Ronde
Princesses and the Veterans' Royalty Court. All of the Grand Ronde Tribal
members and Veterans' Color Guard were asked to join into the special
blanket dance for this family, about 50 Tribal members. There was
$212.20 donated for the Davidson Family. I just wanted to say thank
you to everyone for their kind words and donations. All proceeds were
taken to Bank of America.

Dear Smoke Signals,
Two hundred and ninety four Tribal members were recognized on Sat
urday, June 29 for their accomplishments over the past year. The Educa
tion Division's Annual Honor & Recognition Dinner was held in the new
Gym with just over 200 people in attendance. A more detailed article and
pictures of the award recipients will be published in the annual Special
Education Edition of Smoke Signals that will be available in August. I
would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people for help
ing make our event this year such a success. First, thank you to Sheets
Construction, especially Wally and Tim, for getting the facilities completed
and looking so great for this function, we appreciate all your hard work.
Next, thanks to the Education Committee and Education division staff for
your dedication and commitment to making the event run smoothly, for
the wonderful decorations, and excellent meal. Thank you Tribal Facili
ties staff who we can always count on to do most of the work in setting up
for the event and for getting things put away and in place afterwards.
Thank you to Bobby (Mercier) and helpers for setting up the speaker sys
tem that worked out great. Last but not least, thank you to Tribal Council
members, June Sell-Sherer, Bob Haller, Ed Pearsall and Val Grout and
Tribal General Manager, Cliff Adams for attending this event and show
ing your support for our Education Division and the many accomplish
ments of our students.
