Tribal member Craig Merle Reimer 36, died in an automobile acci
dent while driving home from work May 10.
He was born in Eugene, the son of Clinton and Colleen Meachem
Reimer. He loved cars, music and collecting.
He had an extensive collection of oddities, ranging from action fig
ures to comic book, plates to Avon bottles. He developed his collections
and knowledge into a successful Internet business.
He enjoyed decorating his home for holidays, especially Halloween.
He graduated from Sonoma State University in 1991 with a Bach
elor of Arts degree in jazz and commercial music. He was a respected
Bay area musician who played keyboards and electric guitar with cof
fee house bands. He also played the piano, organ and harmonica. He
greatly enjoyed composing music. He wrote the music for a video that
featured the World's Greatest Women; he wrote the scripts and music
for his own videos, which were viewed in the Santa Rosa area.
He enjoyed working at Spirit Mountain Casino, in the Coyote Club.
He was a direct descendent of Chief Tumulth, who signed the Tribes'
treaty in 1855. His grandfather Clifford Meachem of Wapato, Wash
ington surveyed and laid out the present streets of Grand Ronde.
He was baptized as an infant in Central Presbyterian Church in
Eugene. As a teenager he attended the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyte
rian Church in Lafayette, California.
He is survived by his wife Eileen, of Dallas; parents Clint and Col
leen Reimer of Toppenish, Washington; step-son, Brennan Ehret; and
step-daughters, TerheAnna Margquez of Santa Rosa, Calif, and Flower
Dade of Oak Hills, Calif. He had three step-grandchildren, several
aunts and uncles and between 40 and 50 first and second cousins.
Funeral services were May 16 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in
Dallas. Interment was at the Grand Ronde Tribal Cemetery.
Contributions can be made to the Craig Reimer Memorial Fund,
which will be used to create a memorial bench with his name at the
Delbert Hunter Arboretum, or to the Dallas Public Library. Contribu
tions can be sent in care of Dallas Mortuary Chapel, which is han
dling the arrangements.
