Cultural Resources To Host A Two-hour Social
Memories of Our Past

The Cultural Resource department will be hosting a two-hour social to
bring Tribal members and families together to share their family stories
and memories from the past that have in many ways influenced our lives

Grand Ronde HeadStart Is Now Recruiting
Children For The 2002-2003 School Year
Recruitment runs from April through July. This announcement is for
children who are 3 years old by September 1, 2002 to children who are 5
years old (pre-kindergarten) and that are income eligible. Unfortunately, if
there is not enough space available we will not be servicing non-Tribal
Willamina or Sheridan Head Start children. Our first day of school is Sep
tember 3, 2002. Please call Tersa Stewart at 503-879-2161 for an applica
tion and if you have any questions. Selection and notification will be made
by mid August and you will be notified if your child has been accepted.
Environmental Practicum Opportunity for
Native American Students
The Native American Fish and Wildlife Society is sponsoring its 12th
annual Native American Environmental Awareness Summer Youth
Practicum. The program which runs from July 20 to July 30, 2002 is open
to Native American students entering grades 10 to 12. The program takes
place at the Mt. Evans Outdoor Education Lab School. Students will par
ticipate in field trips, lab and field work and traditional activities, all fo
cusing on natural resources management. As physical activities are part
of the camp experience, students need to be in good physical condition.

Tribal Youth Education Sponsorship Program
Youth Education Sponsorship (YE Sponsorship) program, formerly Sum
mer Sponsorship, began in January 2002.
YE Sponsorship is a program which provides maximum funding of $200
to enrolled Tribal members grades K-12, including home schooling one
time per year to participate in school activities and extracurricular activi
ties and programs.
You must request an application by contacting Chris Bailey at 1-800-422-0232
or 503-879-2101. Applications must be returned completed in
order to be processed. Please allow two weeks for processing.
Funding is available until depleted. Please note that requesting an
application does not ensure funding and does not register the student for
the activity program.
Natural Resources Camp for High
School Students
The 2002 Northwest Natural Resources Science Camp is looking for Native
American high school students who are interested in gaining hands-on
experience in Tribal natural resource management. The camp runs from
June 16 to June 21, 2001 and students will spend the week doing class
and field work and participating in traditional activites. The camp is
sponsered by the Yakama Nation and takes place at Camp Chaparral. It
is open to Native American students in 10th to 12th grade. For more

Willamette to Host Native American
Enrichment Program This Summer
Willamette will again host the Native American Science Enrichment
program this summer, with financial support from the Oregon Commu
nity Foundation. The dates are June 17-21.
Professors Jeff Willemsen (chemistry) and Ron Brisbois will team-teach
the course.
Any students (or teachers) who would be interested in this program,
please feel free to could call Patricia Alley at 503-370-6246. It's a very
simple application form and the program is totally free to the students.
Royalty To Host Visitors from Czech Republic
The Grand Ronde Royalty will be hosting The Sparrows from Czech
Republic on June 2 at 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Community Cen
ter. This is a group of 40 girls that are coming to learn about our Tribe and
culture. They are a choir and will also be performing a small concert for
us. We would like to invite anyone interested in dancing in his or her
regalia to attend.
We will be doing a simple Grand Entry and then have exhibition danc
ing in each dance category along with an explanation of each regalia and
dance category for the girls.
Please come and help us welcome these girls to our Tribe and our Country.

GRTHA Wetlands Mitigation Construction Plan
The Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority desires to contract for
services for the preparation of landscape construction plans and specifi
cations for .91 acre wetlands mitigation project located on Tribal prop
erty, known as the "Brown" site, in Grand Ronde, Oregon. Proposals
