The Member Services department has received several phone calls
from concerned members who have experienced delays in receiving
their pension or disability checks by mail. Many members have cho
sen to have their checks mailed to them and become concerned if they
are not received in a timely manner. All checks are mailed from our
office on the 10th of the month; unless the 10th falls on a Sunday then
the checks will be mailed on Monday, and if the 10th falls on Saturday
they will be mailed on Friday. When the checks are released from our
office we have no way of tracking them through the postal service,
although we do understand your concern.
The Member Services department would like to recommend that mem
bers who are participating in the Elder Pension or Tribal Disability
programs consider the option of receiving their monies by way of direct
deposit. By choosing this option you will not have to wait to receive
your check, we can just deposit the funds into your bank account. Please
contact Valorie Sheker-Robertson for assistance at 1-800-442-0346.
Members who continue to receive their checks by mail will need to let
us know if you do not receive your check, we cannot place a stop pay
ment on the check until 10 working days after we have mailed it and it
will take 10 working days to reissue the check.

NEW ADDRESS:
Dear Smoke Signals,
I want to thank everyone at the Tribal offices who work hard to pro
vide the services that the Elders and members receive. I appreciate all
that is done for us. The medical and the annual payments help so much!
I just think it is all so wonderful. Receiving the paper is very important
to me. I enjoy it so much! A special thank you to the Smoke Signals staff
and Kimberly for sending me extra copies and also the lovely pin. The
pin makes me feel so special.
Sincerely,
Genevieve Johnson
