We have a very busy year planned. We have been attending many
Pow-wows already around the local area representing the Tribe. Our sched
ule is getting very full. Some of the queens have been doing special fund
raisers to attend The Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque in April. The
Royalty Committee and court will also be hosting a group of 40 girls and
their chaperones on June 2, 2002. This group of girls are from the Czech
Republic. They have raised funds for a trip to the United States to learn
about the people and their culture. They asked to meet our Royalty Court
and learn about the Tribe and our culture. We will be hosting quite an
evening of story telling, traditional foods, and exhibition dancing. We are
very excited about this event and sharing our culture with these girls.
They will also be doing a short concert for us.
The Royalty Court will also be having dance classes once a month open
to all interested in some dance instruction. Dietz and Chad Peters will be
teaching Men and Boys traditional, grass, and fancy, Jackie Provost will
be teaching Women's and Girls traditional and Crystal Szczepanski will
be teaching Women and Girls Fancy Shawl and Jingle. We would like to
welcome all to join us. Our first dance class will be on Sunday, April 14 at
the Grand Ronde Community Center from 5 to 7p.m. Bring your shawls,
fans, and moccasins.
Royalty will also be hosting a mini Pow-wow in June in conjunction
with the Education Recognition Dinner and the opening of the new Edu
cation building.
Here is a list of the current events we have on our calender (keep in
mind that this list grows on a weekly basis):

support this group of girls for travel and other expenses. We appreciate
all the support that each of you gives these girls. Our goal this year is
$2,500 in fund raising activities. Last year we raised over $5,000. We
look forward to representing our Tribe!
