Smoke Signals
Dear Tribal Relations and friends,
This is an open letter to all. First
of all, please forgive me for being
late for writing this to you. I would
like to say thank you to Tribal
Council for your prayers and beau
tiful flowers. As always, thank you
again Cheryl Kennedy for being
there. Jan Reibach and Tonya,
thank you. Jackie Provost thank
you for your help and your dona
tion to Reggie and Shelly. To my
mom, thank you for the beautiful
poem to our grandson. Also, to
Jimmy, Reggie and Shelly's home
for preparing foods, keeping their
home in order when all the caring
people were coming by. Thank you
all Siletz caring folks for your
prayers, love, donations and help.
Elaise Case, "Thank You" for your
powerful words to my daughter and
Reggie; for your prayers. To
Shelly's special friend in Eugene
who had her triplets about the same
time, thank you, God bless you. To
my co-workers, thank you for your
support. If I missed anyone, I'm
sorry, may God bless all of you.
Now I want to say a big heart felt
thank you to Reggie and Shelly.
Thank you for all my grandchildren
you have given me. Each one is so
special, but when you gave me
triplet grandbabies, that was extra
special. Jonathan Loren had such
a mild spirit, he was always smil
ing. I will miss my grandchild,
Jonathan. My heart hurts for all
the people that left so recently.

Our tears have been shed. Now
it's time to express our gratitude
and thankfulness. There are no
words to say how much everyone
helped Ernie, Jerry, Kelly, Will,
Josephine and me through all of the
hard times. We could not have
asked for a more beautiful day or a
more beautiful service for Carroll.
He would have never believed all
the love and friendship from the
Grand Ronde Community. The
wonderful honor guards, the 21
gun salute, the fly-over and our
beloved Travis Benoist.
To all of you who showed how
much love there is, thank you. We
would also like to thank all the Vet
erans who showed their support.
I'm unable to name all of you be
cause I would need the whole
Smoke Signals to make my mean
ing clear. The flowers from the
Tribe and from the Elders were
lovely. There are so many nice
memories in our hearts, we hope all
of you can feel them. We will al
ways remember you.
Thank you from all of Carroll's
family.
P.S. The Bollman Funeral Home
was very gracious to us in every
way. Thank you again for all your
kindness.
Dear Smoke Signals,
I would like to thank Chris Mer
rier for the well done and very
touching story "Through the Eyes
of Islam." It was very touching and
explained Islam to the point. I just
wanted people to know the real Is
lam. Islam means peace.
When one becomes Muslim it does
not mean you give up who you are.
One keeps his or her nationality,
there fore I am an American Indian
just like my parents, I just changed
my way of life which has bettered
my life.
I want to thank all of you for un
derstanding and knowing that
there are good and bad just like
Jack said. (Thanks Jack). Not ev
ery Arab is Muslim, Muslims come
in different colors from all over the
world, some have Muslim names
but are different religions also.
And not every Muslim is practic
ing Islam and doing right by Islam.
Just like many people in different
religions. So one very important is
sue that should be made is that we
are not to judge people.
Judging only brings hate but do
we really know the whole truth?
I just want to thank everyone for
their understanding and if there
are any questions I would be happy
to answer them. Thanks to all of
you and may all of you know the
real meaning of Islam.

Massage Therapy not covered by ODS
When Member Services added Acupuncture, Naturopathic and Mas
sage Therapy there was a mix up in the benefit structure. Regrettably
the Massage Therapy was not added, this was a mix up between ODS,
our marketing consultant and myself. Please do not use massage
therapy as it will not be covered by ODS. If anyone has used this
benefit please call Valorie Sheker-Robertson at 1-800-442-0346 so that
I may assist you in seeking payment. Only the massage therapy was
affected. The Acupuncture, Naturepathic and Chiropractic are still active
and have not been affected. I'm sorry for any inconveniences this may
have cause you.
