Alton Butler
July 5' 1930 January 31, 2002
Siletz Tribal member Alton "Nat" Butler passed away January 31
in Grand Ronde. Nat was born in Corvallis, the son of Alton and Ella
Brown Butler. Nat married Lois in 1949; she preceded him in death
in 1997
His entire life, Nat was a logger, and a longtime resident of Grand
Ronde. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in ath
letic sports.
We love him and will miss him deeply, but we know he is in a better
place. Though he was a home with his children and grandchildren
he moved on from this life and will forever be a brother, dad, grandpa
and uncle in our hearts.
Nat is survived by his sons, Randy of Salem, Alton Jr. of Sheridan,
and Josh, Elvin, and Gary, all of Grand Ronde; brothers, Reginal,
Ronald and Charley Butler and Darwin, Ducky, and Lenny Simmons,
all of Siletz, Delmar of Reedsport, and Calvin Simmons of Clatskanie;
sisters, Nancy Simmons, Eloise Case and Sylvia Butler, all of Siletz,
Elaine Thomas of Dallas, Trish Fredrickson of Lincoln City and Lulu
Velligas of Gervais; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held February 6 at the Nazarene church in
Grand Ronde. Interment followed at the Tribal Cemetery.
Jonathan Butler
August 13, 2001 February 1, 2002
Jonathan Loren Butler, 5 months, passed away February 1 in New
port, Oregon. He was born in Eugene and was a member of Siletz
Gospel Tabernacle.
Survivors include his parents, Reggie and Shelly Butler, brothers,
Logan and David, sisters, Cecillie and Ralene and grandparents
Reginald Sr. and Lillie Butler, all of Siletz; grandmother Linda Bran
don of Willamina; grandfather, John Andrews of Nespelem, Washing
ton; great-grandmother, Myrna Brandon, and great-great-grandmother,
Nora Kimsey, both of Grand Ronde; and numerous aunts,
uncles and cousins.
Services were February 7 at Siletz Gospel Tabernacle.

Willamina Memorial Skate Park Fund Raiser
Now that the holidays are over we
are resuming our fund raising efforts.
A group of parents and children in
the Willamina area have been at
tempting to raise money to build a
skate park for the community, We
are now and will be having a bottle
can drive. We are asking that com
munity members donate their cans
and bottles to our efforts. We will
be stationed at the Willamina Thriffway on April 20 from 8 a.m. to
6 p.m. for those of you who wish to drop off your donations, or we
will be happy to pick them up at your convenience, Please con

Poster Contest
AMERIND Risk Management Corporation
2002 National Fire and Home Safety Poster Contest
It's time for children within the six-county service area to
sharpen their crayons and dip their paintbrushes.
All submitted posters must illustrate a "fire safety" or "home
safety" theme.
Children in K-S are eligible to participate. All entries must
be original and created by crayons, markers or paint Posters
must be 8S" X 11" paper.
This years winner can select one of two prizes - $1,000 or a
trip to Walt Pisney World in Orlando, Florida in October 2002.
Entry forms are available through the Tribal Housing Authority.

Entries must be submitted to the Housing Authority Office no
later than May 1, 2002.
