Make 1,000 Needy Children Happy Truman D. Picard Scholarship
The Portland Community Cycling
Center is gearing up for its 6th
Annual Holiday Bike Drive and is
in need of bike donations, volun
teers and financial contributions to
help 1,000 needy children receive
bikes for the holidays.
Donated bikes can be dropped off
at a variety of locations. Call for
more information. If your church,
community or other group would
like to hold a bike drive to help us
collect bikes, please let us know.
Volunteers (as individuals or in
groups) are needed to help clean
and fix up bikes and to help out on
the day of the Drive.

College & Career Forum in Hillsboro
The InterTribal Timber Council is pleased to invite all interested Native
AmericanAlaskan students to apply to our Truman D. Picard Scholarship
program. We are dedicated to supporting students in pursuing a higher
education in Natural Resources. This year we will award scholarships in
the following categories:
02002 graduating senior high school students seeking an education
in Natural Resources ($1,200 scholarships).
0 Students currently attending and institution of higher education
and studying Natural Resources ($1,800 scholarships).
Interested students must provide the following information:
D Letter of Application demonstrating (1) interest in Natural Resources,
(2) commitment to education, communityculture, and (3) academic merit
and (4) financial need. The Education Committee reviews and ranks the
application. All four points should be addressed in the letter. The letter
may be up to two pages in length.
D Resume.
D Three letters of reference.
D Validated enrollment in a federally recognized Tribe or Native Alaska
Corporation, as established by the U.S. Government.
2002 GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS: Please provide docu
mented proof of application to an institution of higher education to study
in the area of Natural Resources along with school grades.
D COLLEGE STUDENTS: If you are currently enrolled in a higher
education program, please provide documented proof of studying in the
area of Natural Resources along with school grades.
