Interview Skills Documentary filmmaker Stephen Leone from Clackamas
County Government Cable interviews Tribal Elder Kathryn Harrison for a film that he
is making about "Tomanowos" - the Willamette Meteorite. The Clackamas Tribe is
one of the many Tribes that make up the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and
the aboriginal territory was near where the meteorite ended up in West Linn in
Clackamas County. The documentary should air in November according to Leone.

A special thanks to Val Grout and
her family for raising almost $900 for
the Veteran's Memorial by donating
items and holding a raffle at this
year's pow-wow. One of the items
raffled was a Dakota Star quilt that
was made and donated by Keith and
Judy Drake (In-laws of Janell Grout
Haller). The Grout family donated
the rest of the items in the memory
of the late Pete Grout.
Thank you to all the people who
bought tickets and supported the
Veterans.
All the staff at the Grand Ronde
Head Start wish to thank all the
people who made our preschoolers'
graduation a huge success.
Spirit Mountain Casino and the
Tribe's Wellness program donated
gifts. Dorothy Lawe made leather
pouches for all the graduates. Thank
you to Ila Dowd for giving the prayer
and Deanna Trimpe for being our
parent speaker.
Also, thank you to Maintenance for
helping us with getting the pow-wow
grounds and PA system set up. We
also appreciated the use of the Com
munity Center and are sorry that we
took so long to filter out!
Many thanks to our drummers and
to the Royalty that participated in
our Grand Entry. We also wanted
to recognize the parents that took
time to be on the graduation commit
tee and Tersa Stewart who coordi
nated that effort. Also, thank you to
all the parents and staff who made
this day a very happy one for all of
our children.
We hope we have not left out any
one who made this day go so
smoothly. We look forward to doing
it all again next year!
