Dear Tribal Council members, Enroll
ment staff, Tribal lawyer and Smoke
Signals,
I am one of the Elders of our Con
federated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
The 1999 amendment has affected
many Grand Ronde members and
their families including ours. I have
a daughter that is in the Tribe and a
son that is not; I have a mother, sis
ter and two brothers that are in the
Tribe and a sister and two brothers
that are not. All of us have the cor
rect Grand Ronde blood quantum
that is needed for enrollment.
I am asking you, the members of
the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde that have the power and au
thority to help; please correct this and
unite all of our people that belong
and should belong to the Confeder
ated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
Sincerely,
Martha Jean Jones

Dear Editor,
' The history of the Grand Ronde is
not complete without the history of
its people. I am an Indian with
Grand Ronde blood. My ancestors
were forced to live at the Grand
Ronde Reservation.
The U.S. Government terminated
the Tribe in 1953. This tennination
destroyed the Tribe but it did not stop
the blood from flowing in the people
of Grand Ronde. The Tribe was re
stored in 1983. The history, heritage
and culture of the people have sur
vived. After 150 years, Grand Ronde is
now a strong sovereign nation. It has
survived exterminations, removals,
termination and assimilation. I am
proud of the Grand Ronde Tribe and
hope to one day belong as a member.
Thank you,
Yetiva Allen
