Candy (George) Robertson
Dear Fellow Tribal Members;
Hello everyone, I hope this letter finds you
in good health and happiness.
First of all, let me say, it is good to be
back in the running! I'm Candy (George)
Robertson and I am asking for your vote
this September for a position on the Tribal
Council.
Serving as a council member is a chal
lenging and rewarding experience, and I
would like to take this opportunity to thank
all of the current and past council mem
bers for their service.
I'm happy to know that Kathryn Harrison, Tribal Council Chairperson,
will continue to work with the Tribe as a consultant and advisor and I
wish her the best in all future endeavors.
I am the daughter of the late Alberta (Riggs) George and granddaugh
ter of the late Lena (Norwest) Bobb. I have four brothers: Allen, Ronnie,
Tony and Monte; and one sister, Diana. I am married to Jess Robertson,
Sr. and have five children and three stepsons. We have 17 grandchil
dren. My extraordinary aunt is Verna Larsen and I have many, many
cousins I would like to say hello to.
My interest in serving on Tribal Council has always been very strong.
I bring 10 solid years of Tribal government knowledge and experience
to the candidacy, and hopefully I can put this to work for you as a Tribal
Councilperson in the near future. During this 10 years of past service
to you, I made decisions based on my values of honesty, integrity, dig
nity and confidentiality. Most importantly, I will make decisions based
on the benefit of the Tribe as a whole, now and for future generations.
The Tribal Council is in the acute position of making tough decisions
on a daily basis regarding ALL Tribal programs. In addition, there are
various issues, large and small, that require action by the Tribal Coun
cil. I assure you that all decisions I make will be made according to the
values I mentioned previously.
I want to take this time to touch on something that I consider a very
sensitive subject. As Tribal members, we are fortunate to have ex
tended families. As a Tribal Councilperson, I will work with fellow coun
cil members as a team to assure that we are not making decisions
based on personal or family gain. I find this type of decision making to
be counterproductive to our efforts as a Tribe. I believe teamwork
and equality are vital to achieving goals and I am committed to this
effort.
I intentionally chose not to touch on more specific issues as I will be
sending a letter to you in the near future, addressing my perspective
on current issues, including: enrollment, economic development, Spirit
Mountain Casino, Tribal endowment funds and any other topics that
you'd like to see addressed.
Thanks to all the voting members that have agreed to make their
addresses available so that I'm able to correspond with you on these
important matters. For those of you that are not on the address ros
ter, or are uncertain of the roster, please feel free to call me. I can be
reached during the evening at 503-843-4242. I welcome your com
ments and questions.
If elected, I will serve you with the same integrity that I did during my
10 years as a Tribal Councilperson. You deserve fair, responsive and
honest representation, and I have demonstrated these principles to
you through past service. Please vote for me so that I can once again
proudly represent you on Tribal Council 2001-2004. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Candy Robertson

Jackie Provost
jr 4,
My name is Jackie Provost and I reside
at Grand Ronde. I am honored to be nomi
nated as a candidate for council. I am very
proud of our Tribe.
We have progressed from the time of our
first recognition meeting for the federal rec
ognition, which I recorded the first meeting
minutes.
I am very serious about making the deci
sion and commitment to further enhance
our Tribal progress.
I am actively involved with the cultural and
traditional activities with the Tribe.
I am employed with the Tribal Health & Wellness facility, Medical
Clinic for six-plus years. I also worked prior with Chemawa Health
Clinic, in Medical Records for 10 years.
I am clean and sober; I have been on the Tribal Pow-wow Commit
tee, involved with the teachings of traditional and cultural ways for the
young representatives running for royalty.
I believe our future is nurturing our youth to become positive Native
Americans by the efforts of Tribal programs and community involve
ment. I look forward to hearing your ideas and listening to the Elders who
would like to see more development in our community for Tribal youth
so our future continues to progress.
If you choose to elect me, I will continue to conduct myself in a
professional, productive manner with compassion for the Tribal people.
I will listen and continue to live a spiritual way with prayers for positive
outcome for our Tribal people.

Wesley (Buddy) West
Dear Tribal Members:
My name is Wesley (Buddy) West. I am a
candidate for Tribal Council and I would like
to express my views on some issues.
Our Tribe has come a long way in a short
time and is steadily progressing. For ex
ample, we enjoy a rapidly increasing flow of
generated revenue, a fantastic health and
education program, and a closer knitting
Tribal unity.
However, we still have areas that need
improvement. Two of these areas are our
children and Elders. For them we must be
responsible. Our Elders have worked long and hard for us. Now it is
our turn to work for them. Our children, who are the future represen
tatives of our Tribe, must be educated, guided and given those oppor
tunities that our Elders did not have. Lets support them. Lets work
for getting recreational facilities for them and let's work for more sup
portive programs for our Elders.
While I agree that working toward more benefits for the Tribe, as a
whole is a must, let's not forget individual benefits. Let's continue to
work for increasing our per capita and for more conservative mea
sures on expenditures.
Lastly, rather than replacing the programs with different programs,
let's concentrate on improving those already in place. There are other
issues I would like to express my views on. However, I will write about
them in my campaign letter.
Thank you,
Wesley West
