Smoke Signals SPECIAL SECTION - JULY 1, 2001 7 Fred McGee Loren F. Holmes Hello, my name is Fred McGee. was born and raised Personal History: I am 42 years old; in Salem, Oregon. My father is Fredrick McGee; my mother is Deloris McGee. I have five brothers: Arthur, William, David, Joseph and Alan. In November of 1999, my wife (Donna) and I were able to purchase a new manu factured home and place it in Grand Mead ows. This was possible due to the Down Payment Grant program that is offered by the Tribe. We got lots of wonderful help from everyone at the Housing Authority during this process. It's real nice living out here, peaceful and quiet. My hobbies include gardening, lawn care, fishing, golf, building bird houses, watching and appreciating nature. Employment History: From 1985-1996, 1 drove a taxicab for Salem-Keizer Yellow Cab Com pany. I worked my way up to being one of the owners of that company before I sold my share in the company due to not enough possibility for future growth. The experience I value most from this job was the one-on-one communicating with the public. From 1996-present, I work for Spirit Mountain Casino in the Surveil lance department. I have worked hard and was recently promoted to Shift Supervisor. This job has given me the opportunity to be involved firsthand in protecting the assets of the casino. Through the use of closed circuit television cameras and monitors, then recorded on vid eotape. 5 ' ' r " - ::' I have had hundreds of hours in live as well as video training to be able to learn everything necessary in regards to table games and other department's policies and procedures, Minimum Internal Controls (MICS), gaming regulations, etc. This knowledge should prove to be very useful in insuring the contin ued success of Spirit Mountain Casino. I have a vision. I see the future for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde very clearly. With sound investments and money management strategies there is no reason why we can't become more prosperous in the future. I want to insure that this success is accomplished and not just a pipe dream. We owe it to our ancestors who fought very hard to make sure there was something left for us to be proud of. Now we owe it to our children so they can hold their heads up high and be proud of who they are. I will take the time to listen to any and all Tribal members equally and respectfully. I will always be fair and non-judgmental. I want to take advantage of the latest in technology; I will use the Internet (World Wide Web) to communicate regularly with those Tribal members who need to communicate concerns or questions. I would be happy to attend peaceful gatherings of Tribal members if invited, I think the more people you get together to communicate the better. The web page address I have set up for communicating with the membership is http:communities.msn.comFredMcGeeTribalMember. My personal e-mail address is mcgeef87hotmail.com and I will take the time to read and respond to everyone. My commitment to you is that I will be open and honest with you about all issues and do my best to answer your questions. From what I have seen in the past there have been Tribal members who were concerned about why certain things were done and didn't get satisfac tory answers. I will take time to explain the WHY to you, so hopefully you won't be confused any longer. This is for my father who always reminded me where I came from. I am proud to be CALAPOOIA. To the Members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde: f I My name is Loren F. Holmes and I'm a f ' I Tribal member seeking a Dosition for coun cilman. Although I don't have a lotto promise you, but what I do have is honesty and fairness to all. If elected, I would like to see about get ting more needs and funding for the Elders. After all, they are why you are here. So we should take better care of them. They should come first above everything. Also, I would like to see if we could have a fish hatchery and make jobs and create revenue for our people. So, if elected, this is what I would try to do. Thank you, Loren F.
