NATIVE AMERICAN PHILOSOPHIES
A Spring 2001 Lecture Series
Members of the community are invited to come to the Oregon State Uni
versity campus Wednesday evenings to learn from distinguished Native
American writers and scholars, as they speak of what they most deeply be
lieve about their place on earth, their relation to the natural world, their
sources of strength and wisdom, the nature of time and place and spirit, and
right ways of acting in communities, both biological and civic. Join them
during the spring term for stories, music, and poetry, and university lectures
and discussions many kinds of wisdom, many ways of knowing. The lec
tures are also available as a 3-credit OSU course.

Tribal Council Ordinance
The Tribal Council in consultation with the Tribal Attorney's Office has proposed
amending the Tribal Council Ordinance to provide that the credit card policy set forth in
the Tribal Council Ordinance, be amended. Section (k)(3)(B) is deleted and replaced
with the following language:
"Allowable Expenses: Tribal credit cards may be used only for commercial trans
portation, hotel lodging, and meals with official guests of the Tribe. Individuals
must request a travel advance for other meals and anticipated costs prior to trav
eling, provided, however, that if the individual is unable to obtain a travel advance
before departing, heshe may use their Tribal credit card"
Section (k)(3)(D) of the Tribal Council Ordinance, as amended, would read as follows:
"Limit: The credit limit on each card shall be five thousand ($5,000) dollars"
The first reading of the proposed amendment to the Health Authority Ordinance was
presented at the November 8, 2000, Tribal Council meeting.

Education Trust Fund Scholarships
These scholarships are offered by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde:

The scholarships are renewable as long as the student meets minimum aca
demic requirements. These are competitive scholarships. Each scholarship
application is reviewed and ranked on a points basis. Applicants are rated on
academic merit, leadership and Tribal and community involvement. It is re
quired that applicants submit an essay with their application along with addi

NWIHA Deadline Extended
The intent of the Northwest Indian Housing Association (NWIHA). Scholar
ship Fund is to provide financial awards for educational and training programs
at schools, colleges, job training organizations, sports camps or other worth
while activities.
The deadline for submission of applications for NWIHA's Scholarship Pro
gram has been extended from March 31, 2001 to APRIL 30, 2001.
