YOUR EDUCATION CHECKLIST
JANUARY 1-30: Make copies of your completed Federal Financial Aid
application. Mail original in the envelope provided; send copy to the
Tribal Education division; and keep a copy for yourself.
JANUARY 1-APRIL 30: Request and complete the Tribal Education
Trust Fund Scholarship program application. Mail to the Tribal Educa
tion division.
BEGINNING OF EACH TERM OR SEMESTER: Mail new class
schedules to the Tribal Education division.
END OF EACH TERM OR SEMESTER: Mail grade reports to the
Tribal Education division.
MONTHLY: For students attending a proprietary school, you need to
send a grade report, progress report, and attendance record every month
to the Tribal Education division.
THROUGHOUT THE YEAR: Maintain contact with the Tribal Edu
cation Specialist.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. All students are responsible for having their grade reports sent to the Tribal
Education program upon completion of each term or semester. Either make ar
rangements with the Registrar's Office to have the reports sent directly to the
Tribal Education office or mail a copy of your grade report to the Tribal Office
yourself.
2. Students please notify the Educational program of address changes and tele
phone number changes.
3. If emergencies occur that effects your attendance notify the Education Pro
gram and College IMMEDIATELY. (Tribal Education Office, College Business Of
fice, College Financial Aid Office and College Registrar's Office)
4. You must maintain 2.00 GPA and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per
term or semester to be eligible for assistance.
5. Students who are placed on PROBATIONARY STATUS will not be awarded
the following term until they have provided the Education program an OFFICAL
COPY of their transcripts. Transcripts must include the term of probation and
must show successful completion of 12 credit hours earned with at least a 2.00
GPA. NO AWARD WILL BE MADE UNTIL TRANSCRIPTS HAVE BEEN SUB
MITTED. 6. Continuing students must file their Federal Financial Aid Forms by Febru
ary 15; you must provide a copy of your application to The Education Program for
filing verification.
7. All students must sign a "Release of Information" form regarding attendance,
financial aid transcripts, education budgets, progress and grade reports.
8. It is your responsibility to remain in "good academic standing." If a student
demonstrates an "on againoff again" pattern of being placed on PROBATIONARY
STATUS, THEY WILL BE PLACED ON Probationary Status for one complete
academic year. Failure to meet minimum academic requirements during this
period will result in SUSPENSION.
9. Students who withdraw from school due to medical or health related reasons
must obtain a statement of verification from their physician or health care pro
vider identifying need to withdraw from school. Students must obtain a statement
of release from their physician that identifies ability to return to school., Copies of
physician's statements must be provided to the Education program.
10. Students entering their SENIOR year are required to have a GRADUATION
AUDITEVALUATION completed Fall Term and provide a copy of the AuditEvalu-"
ation to the Tribal Education program.

provide assistance and support for you while you are attending school.

American Alliance for Health, Physical Education,
Recreation and Dance
The AAHPERD is the largest organization of professionals supporting
and assisting those involved in physical education, leisure, fitness, dance,
health promotion, and education and all specialties related to achieving a

Minority Scholarship and Fellowship Programs
Scholarships available for students pursuing undergraduate degrees in
urban planning, community development, environmental sciences, public

P Washington Internships for Native Students
Agencies pay $6,300 per intern to participate in the WINS program.
The cost covers intern tuition, round trip travel, local travel housing, meals
and cost associated with social and cultural activities and a stipend of $150
per week. Students receive six credit hours for participating in this pro
gram. Internships are for eight weeks, beginning in June and ending in

Science and Natural Resource Camps

Pepper Memorial Student Achievement Award
The purpose of these $200 awards is to encourage Oregon American In
dian high school seniors to continue their education beyond high school and
to help to defray some of the numerous expenses involved in attending a

National Native American Youth Initiative
The Association of American Indian Physician offers a Health, Biomedical
Research and Policy Development summer program to inform students of
health careers available. Native American high school students, between
the ages of 16-18 years old, planning to enter the health professions are
eligible to apply. Selected scholars will receive all expenses paid and will be
provided with room, board and travel during the week-long program. Appli

Summer Program at University of New Mexico
Dates of Program: June 14-July 27. The Tribal Resource Institute in Busi
ness, Engineering and Science is a summer program for high school graduates
on their way to college or post secondary education. Students will be selected
to attend the University of New Mexico for six weeks and can earn up to nine
transferable college credits. Upon completion of the program, students are
eligible for a $1,000 scholarship for five years. Call the TRIBES Program at
