OPEN FOR COMMENT Proposed Amendments to ENROLLMENT ORDINANCE The Tribal Council, in consultation with the Tribal Attorney's Office, has proposed several amendments.to the ENROLLMENT ORDINANCE. .The first reading of thd amendments to the Tribal Court Ordinance was pre sented at the August 30, 2000 Tribai Council meeting. - '"'; The purpose of the amendments is to make technical corrections to various provisions of the Ordinance and to make necessary substantive changes to the Ordinance to update the Ordinance: The substantive changes include, but are not limited to, adding a provision to allow expedited enrollment of children between the ages of newborn and six months,' clarifying access to enrollment records, clarifying burden arid standard of proof in enrollment appeals, and providing for development of procedures for correction of the membership rolls by enrollment staff. The Tribal Council believes amend ment of this Ordinance will assist the Tribe in continuing to provide efficient enrollment procedures to its members. It does require com mitment and time, but Is a tremendous honor, There will be dance, proto col, craft, and speaking classes that will help prepare yourself to be on Royalty, Any young lady who would like to participate in Royalty to gain experi ence may as a Princess, and not compete this year for a Queen position. It is not the responsibility of the Royalty Board, Tribal Council, or any other Tribal program to provide. Members of the Royalty Court are not paid positions. Although, the chosen Queens and Princesses will receive motel fees and a set amount for travel expenses for attending required events. For all fund-raisers and ac tivities that Royalty is involved in, the court and their families or sponsors are required to participate. All the members on the Royalty Court must show good judgement by not participating in any activities that could bring adverse publicity to themselves or the Tribe.
