Business and Entrepernuer Network
(ONABEN) "Venture Out" course
gathered for a celebration and to re
ceive their Certificates of Participa
tion. Venture Out is funded by the Small
Business Administration's Office of
Women's Business Ownership
(OWBO). The class is designed to
help women who are interested in
operating a home-based business to
supplement their family income and
learn what it takes to accomplish this.
This course can be offered again
next year for those interested in at
tending. Please contact Sheila

Starting a Successful
Business series
The Tribe's Small Business Devel
opment Department will be offering
a Fall session of the Starting a Suc
cessful Business class. The classes
will begin Tuesday, September 12
and will run each Tuesday thereaf
ter through November 28.
This course is designed to take par
ticipants through the business plan
ning process. A business plan is re
quired by lenders and is also a good
tool to map out your business for suc
cess. Anyone interested in partici
pating in this session, please contact

Chemeketa Community College will offer the following evening classes this Fall in
Grand Ronde. Classes will be held in the Education modular 3, between the
Community Center and Sheriff's Substation. All classes will be held from 5:30 to
8:30 p.m. on the days listed.

Law Internship for students of color
The INROADS Law Internship Program is designed to encourage greater
technical excellence and academic preparation for students of color in the
field of law. Students will have a paid internship with a law firm during
their last summers of college and on into law school. The ultimate goal is to
place the student with the firm. The intern would be obligated to work for
two years with the sponsoring firm upon graduation from law school.
QUALIFICATIONS: At least a 3.0 grade point average, planning to enter
law school in 2000 or 2001. African American, Asian American, Latino or

f CHINUK-WAWA CLASS OFFERED 1
Another multi level three-credit class in chinuk-wawa will be offered in September.
It will be conducted by the Tribe's Language Program and sponsored by the Univer
sity of Oregon. The ten-week course will begin September 25, and will be held on
Monday nights from 6pm - 9pm in the Tribal Governance Center. Individuals inter
ested in applying for this class should contact the Tribe's Language Specialist, Tony

The Language Program of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde will again
be hosting the 3rd Annual Chinuk-Wawa Workshop in Grand Ronde.
Featured at the workshop will be both opportunities to increase your abilities
with spoken Chinuk, and presentations related to a variety of linguistic and
historical aspects of Chinuk-wawa.
Come and find out why Chinuk is so important to the Grand Ronde community,
learn more about its Native origin, and help to prevent this important shared
language from dying out. Don't forget to ask about the Chinuk writing contest
($150 first prize). Tuition will be paid for the first ten Tribal members to sign up.
