and the granddaughter of Edith Jeffers.
BUSINESSTYPE AND SERVICES:
Mid-Valley Building Supplies in Lebanon, Oregon. "We're a building supply store that
sells a lot of factory blemishes, so we can sell stuff a lot cheaper, we also carry lines of
older mobile home reproduction parts. We have a 35-page book that we can order the
older, harder to find parts. Everything from siding to windows to plumbing fittings,
kitchen sinks, molding and paneling strips that match the older models," said Scott
Brinson. Mid-Valley Building Supply can also get lumber, doors, decking, plywood,
metal-roofing materials and Pole Barn kits.
HOW LONG IN BUSINESS?
2 Vi years in Albany and now moving to Lebanon. "At least 75 percent of our
business is in the Lebanon-Sweet Home area," said Scott.
OTHER JOBS AND BUSINESS EXPERIENCE?
Dawn has experience working for a credit union and ran her own finance company.
Scott worked 4 years for a plywood company and 7 Vi years in a mobile home factory.
REASON FOR STARTING BUSINESS?
The Brinsons came across an opportunity to purchase an inventory of hard to get
items for manufactured and mobile homes from a business that was selling their in
ventory. They saw a need for the parts in the current market and made the purchase.
Their business started from there.
"The response was just awesome," said Scott. "Then, we branched out into pur
chasing new items like siding, windows and decking for people who want to build
decks, add windows or remodel their home. We have a lot of seconds and brand new
stuff here too."
WHATARESOMEOFTHECHALLENGES?
"Keeping the doors open," said Scott. "The fun challenge is trying to keep your
customers showing up instead of going to our competitors."

own Mid-Valley Building Supplies in Lebanon, Oregon. Dawn hopes their busi
ness will appeal to Tribal members who live in mobile and manufactured homes.
WHAT ARE SOME OFTHE REWARDS?
"The big one is not having to answer to a time clock everyday," said Scott. "And, the
satisfaction of having been in business for the last 2 V2 years and being on your own
and not having to worry about anybody else."
WHAT ARE SOME OFTHE REASONS FOR YOUR SUCCESS?
"We found something that people really need and people like coming here because
we are good to them," said Scott. "When we meet people, we treat them well."
Dawn and Scott said their business has grown much of it has been from word of
mouth. People get good service and they tell others.
"A big part of our business is being able to sell our products at wholesale prices to
the public," said Dawn. "And, by having the hard to find parts for manufactures homes,
we can really help people. We just had a lady drive over from Prineville for a sink
because she couldn't find it anywhere else. We have people coming from all over the
place."
WHATELSE WOULD YOU LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
"We're honest and up front," said Scott.
Dawn said she hopes her business will appeal to Tribal members who live in manu
factured homes.
"We want to be able to help them out too," said Dawn.
