Summer youth employment
at tribal headquarters
Again this year, the Tribe's Youth
Education program will be facilitat
ing the Summer Youth Employment
program for Grand Ronde tribal
member youth ages 14-17. This is
an opportunity for tribal youth to ex
perience working for the Tribe.
Scheduled work hours are 8 a.m.
to noon at 20 hours per week for ap
proximately 8 weeks.

The Natural Resources department of the Grand Ronde Tribe seeks members for its
Summer Youth Crew program. These positions are designed and funded for the
purpose of providing enhanced opportunities for youth andor students.
Youth Crew Leader Youth Crew Member
$10.50hour. Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30
Approximately 12 weeks starting June 2000
DUTIES: Supervise and provide leadership to a
six person summer youth work crew. Youth
crew projects may include trail and park main
tenance, native tree and plant plantings, for
est inventory, or other natural resource and
community projects.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 19-24 years of age
and reside in either Yamhill or Polk County. Ex
perience in the proper use of hand tools. Must
be in good physical condition and be able to
work in rugged outdoor terrain. Experience in
natural resources related work preferred.
REQUIREMENTS: Must furnish their own work
boots. A valid Oregon driver's license and safe
driving record. Must successfully complete pre
employment background check and drug test.
$6.50hour. Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30
Approximately 8 weeks starting June 2000
DUTIES: Work as a member of a six person
summer youth work crew. Youth crew projects
may include trail and park maintenance, native
tree plantings, forest inventory work, or other
natural resource and community projects.
QUAUFICATIQNS: Must be 16-19 years of
age and reside in either Yamhill or Polk County.
Must have the ability or experience to safely
and properly use hand tools. Must be in good
physical condition and be able to work in rug
ged outdoor terrain. Interest or experience in
natural resources related work field helpful.

Summer Interns
EnvironmentalWater Quality
Fish and Wildlife
$10.50Hour. Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30
Approximately 3 months starting in June 2000
(1-3 positions depending on funding)
The Tribe's Natural Resources Division seeks
summer interns for the EnvironmentalWa
ter Quality and Fish and Wildlife programs.
The positions are designed for the purpose
of supporting the EnvironmentalWater
Quality and Fish and Wildlife staff and to
enhance the interns education with work
experience in their field of interest.
DUTIES: Stream habitat surveys, stream tem
perature monitoring, stream mapping using a glo
bal positioning system (GPS), plant surveys, and
other natural resource related projects.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be working toward a
bachelors degree in an environmental, fish and
wildlife, or other natural resource related program.
Must be able to work in the Grand Ronde area
(approximately 30 miles West of Salem), be in
good physical condition, and be able to work in
rugged outdoor terrain. Experience in natural
resources related work would be helpful but is not
required.
REQUIREMENTS: Leather work boots, valid Or

Waders will be provided. Must successfully com

Adult Education Coordinator
GRADE: 15 , CLOSING DATE: MONDAY, MAY 15, 2000
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Education, and a minimum of five years of teaching or related
experience, teaching certificate preferred. Requires excellent writing skills and grammar usage.
Aability to read and interpret documents routine to the program such as policies, correspondence,
student records, safety rules, etc. Ability to offer instruction or tutoring in skill development.
Independent decision making skills are necessary. Ability to identify and access resources and
current, critical program information through such agencies as community colleges, state and
national agencies, and Native American programs. Ability to network with Directors and staff of
Adult Education programs at local, state and federal levels in both Native American and non-Native
programs with priority given to Native preferences and policies.
Groundskeeper (Temporary)
GRADE: 2 CLOSING DATE: MONDAY, MAY 15, 2000
Requires a high school diploma, GEO or vocational training in related field; or one to three months
related experience andor training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Re
quires a valid Oregon driver's license and qualify for the Tribe's insurance. Requires the ability to
operate heavy equipment, machinery, power tools safely. Ability to read and interpret docu
ments, maps, operating instructions and manuals in English. Ability to write reports and corre
spondence and speak effectively before groups. Ability to add, subtract, multiply,- and divide in all
units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate,
ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to work under direction of others.
Clinical Supervisor (Treatment Coordinator)

Requires a Bachelor's degree In social service or related field, Master's degree preferred. Re
quires a minimum of five years of experience in chemical dependency treatment setting; two years
of experience must be with adolescent chemical dependency treatment and two years minimum of
supervisory experience with at least one year in a residential treatment setting or certification as
a clinical supervisor. Requires certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor II with certifica
tion as CDS III required when experience and course work requirements are met. Requires a first
aid and CPR certificate. Requires valid Oregon driver's license. Knowledge of Native American
culture required; Native American employees preferred. Must pass a criminal background check.

ment in the analysis of facts and circumstances surrounding individual client and family crisis
problems. Must pass a criminal background check.
