Summer youth employment
at tribal headquarters
Again this year, the Tribe's Youth
Education program will be facilitat
ing the Summer Youth Employment
program for Grand Ronde tribal
member youth ages 14-17. This pro
gram is an opportunity for tribal
youth to experience working for the
Tribe.
Scheduled work hours are 8 a.m.
to 12 p.m. at 20 hours per week for
approximately 8 weeks.

Summer sponsorship applications
Summer Sponsorship is a program designed to support Grand Ronde tribal
youth in kindergarten through 12th grade in participating in extra-curricular
activities and summer programs. This program will pay a maximum of
$200 toward registration costs only. Youth may apply to receive sponsorship
one time per year. Sponsorship is on a first come basis.
To request an application, students may call Lisa Leno at 879-2224 or 1-800-422-0232,
ext. 2224. Allow two weeks to process a completed application.
Summer youth program offered
in Ashland and Medford
A Native American Youth Academy residential camp for youth in grades 5
10 is being offered this summer, along with many other programs. Call

Achievement and Recognition is a non
competitive award to recognize CTGR
tribal youth who are enrolled in school,
kindergarten through 12th grades. The
primary focus of the program is to honor
students for academic, community, and
leadership accomplishments.
We encourage all students to apply,
applications are due in the Tribal Educa
tion department or must be post marked
by May 1 . Applications must be complete
in order to receive full monetary award,
there are no exceptions.

dren will receive the first spots in this
program. If there are openings af

will then start taking community

The Tribe's Youth Education program and Social Services department
would like to express their extreme pleasure in again welcoming LITEFOOT
and his entourage to our community.
LITEFOOT, the 1998 Native American Music Award winner for Rap
Artist of the year and star of the films, The Indian in the Cupboard, Mortal
Kombatll, Annihilation, and Kull, the ConquerorwWl appear in Willamina
on Friday, May 5.
He has performed and spoke throughout all of Native Country, moti
vating and encouraging Native youth. LITEFOOT remains committed to
upholding his status as a positive role model for all Native youth.
Before his concert, Litefoot will talk about youth issues of today.
LITEFOOT'S message to youth has been consistent:
be proud of your heritage;
get an education;
stand strong and unite;
stay away from gangs and violence;
stay away from alcohol and drugs.
This is a family community evening.
Join us for dinner before the concert.
Autograph signing and merchandise sales
will be available after the concert.
Parents are welcome to stay for the entire event.
During the concert, refreshments and snacks will be
served in a social area for parents who wish to stay.
Volunteers are needed from beginning to end set up,
