HOT" SUMMER TIPS...
By Jeanne Larsen, Safety Committee
"HOT TIPS" for the upcoming summer weather. We all know it's com
ing. It's just a matter of what days we're going to have it and although
we can not predict which days they will be, we want to be prepared!
Keep water, juice, and thirst quenchers on hand. A jug of cool water
and wash cloth for cooling down the body is good. The other day I saw a
little plastic container to put water in with a fan attached to it that
would work real well for helping to keep cool. Be creative, it's amazing
what we can come up with.
If transporting Elders, kids, or animals, please make sure they have
water readily available to them. They could easily have a heat stroke or
encounter heat exhaustion. Check with the Wellness staff for the symp
toms of these problems or, better yet, don't put them in a position where
it's necessary to know the symptoms.
Small Business Workshop
Capital Access held June 23

small businesses. The class will cover: the loan application process, the loan
officer relationship, specific loan programs, and resources. If you would like
to attend this very informational one-day seminar, please call Barbara Lake
at 879-2476 or Perri McDaniel at 879-2487. ...
Gaming Commission seeks comments
The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon have
filed a petition with the National Indian Gaming Commission for a certifi
cate of self-regulation. One criteria for the issuance of a certificate is that
the Tribe has a reputation for safe, fair and honest operation of the gaming
activity. Comments in this regard are solicited and are to be submitted with
your name, address and daytime telephone number, directly to the Office of
Self Regulation, National Indian Gaming Commission, 1441 "L" Street, NW
9th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20005.
