Elders to host Honor Day in July
Donations of mugs and raffle items needed
The Grand Ronde Tribal Elders
have decided to host their first
Honor Day. They will be inviting
other Oregon tribes.
On Friday, July 16, the Honor
Day will start with lunch and end
with a salmon dinner. The afternoon
will be filled with fun as they play
bingo, raffle prizes, and hand out
awards for topics such as oldest El
der. Saturday morning will be a
"send-off breakfast" wishing their
visitors a safe journey home.
, The Elders are asking for dona
tions of art, jewelry, craft items, new
kitchen towels and accessory type
items. Donations do not have to be
Native American items and will be
used as prizes for bingo and raffles.
They also plan to give a potted
plant in a coffee mug as a welcome
gift to each guest. The Elders would
like to collect around 300 mugs. .
To donate mugs or prize items,
please contact Kerrie Jones, Jill
Jeffers or Bonnie Tom at 879-2078
or 1-800-422-0232. There is a drop
. box for the mugs at the Health and
Wellness Center. Your donations are
greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to the Willamina Middle School wrestlers for an
undefeated season two years in a row! The Wolverines won their
own home tournament in February, where they hosted 8 regional
teams. On March 16, they had their last meet at home against Neil
Armstrong Middle School of Cornelius. This year's team record was
15-0. Good job, boys! Many of the 8th graders will go on to wrestle
at Willamina High School, whose wrestling team won the state
championship this year. Tribal member wrestlers at Willamina
Middle School are: BRETT LENO, 90 pounds, 16 wins, 2 losses; LEE
WILSON, 95 pounds, 11 wins, 2 losses; HIGHPINE EASTMAN, 100
pounds, 6 wins, 3 losses, MATT ZIMBRICK, 123 pounds, 11 wins, 6
losses; and NICK KIMSEY, 134 pounds, 13 wins, 6 losses.

CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Look to this day, for it is life. The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all the realities and verities of existence.
The bliss of growth, the splendor of action, the glory of power
For yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.
