salvage contractor or
any other business agent who may
be interested in purchasing and re
moving an old barn. The barn is
available for public viewing from the
hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time
at the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde headquarters complex at
9615 Grand Ronde Road in the com
munity of Grand Ronde, Oregon.
Any contractors or businesses that
may be interested in purchasing and
removing the barn may respond by
submitting a letter of interest to the
Tribe. The letter must be sent to the

Letters of interest must be received
no later than 4 p.m. Pacific Time on
Friday, March 19, 1999. Respon

The Tribe assumes no responsibility

est may be hand delivered to the
Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
Governance Center at the Gover
nance Center Reception Counter. It
is the responsibility of the letter de
livery service provider to locate the
correct building and reception
counter before the submittal dead
line. Letters of interest that are not
delivered by the above specified
time, date, and location will not be
considered. Faxed letters will not be
accepted.

CIVIL ENGINEER

Plans, designs, and directs projects involving
and related to civil engineering disciplines such
as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors,
channels, dams, irrigation systems, pipelines,
and power plants. Supervise Public Works de
partment including capitol projects and facility
maintenance; analyze reports, maps, draw
ing, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs
of topographical and geologic data to plan and
design projects; calculate costs and determine
project feasibility; prepare or direct prepara
tion of reports, specifications, plans, construc
tion schedules, environmental impact studies
and designs for projects; assure regulatory
compliance and inspectdirect construction and
maintenance activities at project sites; assist
Tribal Land Acquisition Staff with property pur
chase and title transfer advice; and conduct
building inspections and land surveys. Re
quires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering dis
cipline or a closely related field; 8 years' engineering-related
experience, including 2 years'
of managerial experience; professional Engi
neering Registration (PE); AutoCAD experi
ence and excellent communication skills.

for the proposed Hiyu Stick Logging Unit,
Grand Ronde Indian Reservation
The Environmental Assessment
(EA) and a Finding of No Signifi
cant Impact (FONSI) have been
issued for the proposed Hiyu Stick
Logging Unit in Sections 7 and 8,
T.5S., R.8W., W.M. on the Grand
Ronde Indian Reservation. The
EA discloses the issues relating to
the environmental resources af
fected by the Proposed Action and
alternatives to the Proposed Ac
tion. The EA further discloses the
analysis of the likely environmen
tal consequences of the Proposed
Action and alternatives to the Pro
posed Action. The FONSI discloses
the alternative selected by the re
sponsible official and gives sup
porting reasons for this selection.
The Preferred Alternative, Alter
native A, would clearcut a 90 year
old stand of Douglas-fir and con
struct 0.09 mile of road. 3.57 acres
would be thinned from below,
meaning the smaller, suppressed
trees will be taken out to favor the
vigorous, dominant trees in the
stand. The Preferred Alternative
would harvest approximately
1,888,000 board feet of timber
from 3.57 acres of thinned area
and 29.62 acres of clearcut area.
The EA and FONSI are avail
able for public review and com
ment for a period of 15 days be
ginning the first day after publi
cation of this notice. The respon
