Yes, the Tribe now has its own website where any one will be able to access information on the Grand Ronde Tribe. This is a brand new site with links to the Casino and all tribal programs. The Gaming Commission, Small Business Development (SBD), and the Casino's pages are impressive. However, many of the links are still "under construction." But keep watching for the web pages to develop. Everyone is encouraged to access information right now on the Tribe's Small Business site. On that site you will find: Current events happening with the local Cham ber of Commerce, like the Willamina Art Tour. ONACC - the Oregon Native American Cham ber of Commerce. ONABEN Oregon Native American Business and Entrepreneurial Network. Monthly computer classes offered in Grand Ronde and other services offered by SBD. The coolest page is the Tribal Members Busi ness Directory. This is a listing of 59 tribal mem ber businesses all over the U.S. Check it out! The annual STROLL FOR SANTA fund-raiser was held on Saturday, September 12. Walkers from Grand Ronde collected $1600 in pledged donations which will purchase Christmas decorations for the Grand Ronde area. The local Chamber of Com merce would like to thank everyone that walked and pledged for the support they gave for this cause. Now, a community team needs to be established to purchase the new holi day decorations. If you are interested in making the Grand Ronde area fes tive for the holidays, please attend a meeting on Friday, October 16 at noon. The meeting will be held at Small Business, upstairs in the Molalla Room. HANGING CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS: Last year's participants sharing community spirit. Another item that needs support is signs welcom ing people to Grand Ronde. Suggestions are needed for the design of these signs. In addition to the $1,000 already raised, a Bingo fund-raiser is scheduled at the Casino on November 4. As com munity members, here is your chance to partici pate in some real "community fun." Tribal youth invited to submit artwork Sacred Landscapes: Native American Perspectives of the Pacific Northwest Oregon State University is extending an invita tion to Oregon Native American students, grades K-12 to submit works of art for a student exhibi tion. All work will be shown on May 14, 1999 at the LeSells Stewart Center on the Oregon State Uni versity Campus. The exhibition will be held in con junction with the OSU Spring Pow-wow. All art work is due November 1, 1998. Mail completed work to Sacred Landscapes Art Exhibit, Department of Art, 106 Fairbanks Hall, Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR 97331. If you want your art work to be returned to you please include return postage. About the artwork: Any two-dimensional work on paper or canvas in painting, drawing, print making and other media will be accepted. The art work may be in black and white or in color. En tries may measure up to 3 x 3 feet framed. Fin ished work should be matted or mounted on rail road board, foam core or mat board. Small work may be mounted on construction paper with rub ber "cement. Work should be labeled on the back with the name of the artist, address, phone, name of school, the age of the artist, and the tribal affili ation. (Entry labels are available but students do not have to use these labels to enter). Cash will be awarded: 1st $100; 2nd $75; and 3rd $50. There may also be several pur chase awards. Art work will be judged as it re sponds to the conference theme: Sacred Land scapes: Native American Perspectives of the Pa cific Northwest. In addition, an Honor Award of $100 will be presented to the work selected to be the conference logo. That work will be used on a T-shirt and a poster publicizing the conference.
