Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree
in BusinessPublic Administration or closely related
field; and at least ten years of progressively more
responsible administrative experience, including
tribal operations and programs; or any satisfactory
combination of experience and training. The Ex
ecutive Officer works under general supervision of
the Tribal Council and directly supervises the fol
lowing positions: Financial Officer, Administrative
Officer, Human Resources Manager, seven (7) Di
vision Managers, Executive Assistant, Administra
tive Assistant; indirectly supervises all employees
(245 total).
Culture and Heritage Board
Executive Director

Executive Director for the Kwelth Talkie Culture and
Heritage Society, a tribal nonprofit organization that
exists to design, implement and administer a tribal
cultural museum and provide related community
education activities for the Confederated Tribes of
the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon. The Ex
ecutive Director reports to and works in partner
ship with the Board of Directors for the Society and
is responsible for developing and managing the
organization's budget, and supervision of staff.
Qualified candidates will posses a Bachelor's de
gree in Museum studies, Cultural Resources Man
agement, History or Anthropology with Master's
degree preferred in the areas mentioned with six to
ten years experience in administration, collections
management, preservation and exhibit design and
fund-raising.
Education Supervisor II
Focus Area Head Start

The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde is seek
ing qualified candidates for an Education II Super
visor for the Head Start and Grand Ronde Learning
Center. Incumbent would be responsible for pro
viding supervision of the Head Start center and
Grand Ronde Learning Center, for preschool aged
children. Serve as lead of Head Start and Learning
Center management learn to develop and imple
ment program goals, work plans, and policies.
Qualified candidates for this position will posses at
a minimum an Associate degree in Education with
an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, Hu
man Development or Social Services with a mini
mum of 3 years of work experience with early child
hood education and Head Start director experience.
Head StartPreschool Teacher
SALARY: $1725-$2160 per month

Qualified candidates for this position must be pre
pared as a teacher of young children by possess
ing an Associates degree in Early Childhood Edu
cation or CDA certification, actively in the process
of obtaining degree or certification, or a satisfac
tory combination of experience and training which
demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities
to perform this position.

Film shown in Grand Ronde
The Education Division invites you to watch the
film "Coping with Death and Dying. Eclectic Wis
dom." This film offers an uplifting look at the heart
warming stories of people and the life lessons they
have learned. Please bring a brown bag lunch on
Wednesday, July 8 at the Education Building in
Grand Ronde. The film will be shown at noon to 1
p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.
Summer Camp Opportunity
The Education Division will sponsor two tribal
youth to attend Konaway Nika Tillicum '98. This
is a residential program for Native American stu
dents in grades 5 to 8.
Konaway Nika Tillicum, which means "all my
relations" in Chinook Jargon, is an exploration of
a broad range of classes, cultural experiences and
recreational activities for Native American youth.

2224. Youth will be selected on a first-come ba
sis, with students that have never attended this con
ference receiving preference.
Scholarships offered by ATNI
Now available are the ATNI and PGE Transmis
sion NW Scholarship applications. The purpose
of this scholarship is to assist students to success
fully complete post-secondary educational pro
grams at approvedaccredited institutions of higher
learning. Students must be a member of a Tribe
belonging to the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest In
dians, and reside within the PGE Gas Transmis
sion NW service area of Oregon, Washington,
Idaho. Interested students may request an appli

Higher education deadlines
The deadline date to apply to Tribal Education
Program is August 1, 1998 for Fall TermSemes
ter funding consideration: This date applies to the
Adult Vocational Training Program and the Higher
Education Program. Both these programs are fed
erally funded "need-based" programs. It is re
quired that you apply for Federal Financial Aid
each academic year. You need to apply early.
If you are a continuing student, you should have
submitted copies of your financial aid application
to the education office by February 15. Many of
you have not submitted this document so you may
see a delay in eligibility determination this year.
For those of you continuing students who have all
the paperwork submitted we should be able to get
1998-99 funding award notices out to you by mid-July.

Native plant projects
The Tribe's Cultural Resources Protection pro
gram is working on a cultural plant use project.
Any information regarding plants that are or were
used for crafts, medicines, food stuffs, ceremonies,
and other cultural uses is needed. One of the ac
tivities is a handbook with general plant informa
tion how to prepare, where to collect, photos
drawings, and the name of the plants in Latin, En
glish, jargon, and if possible, the original tribal
names. Another activity is to form a Western Or
egon Basket Makers Association. This will explore
who is weaving, gathering materials, and how to
work with the lack of materials.

Culture board meeting
Kwelth Tahlkie Culture and Heritage Board will
meet on Saturday, July 11 in Spirit Mountain
, Casino's Conference Room A (upstairs), beginning
at 10 a.m. This represents a change of date due to
the Forth of July holiday, as the Board generally
meets the first Saturday of each month.
All tribal members are invited to attend Culture
and Heritage Board meetings.
