' (X$$-k KJ 0 Till f iiw tJ(,,,i,iMMWi(WpiWtlM)niiMiiiiiiiiiwiw Tribal member Tammy Garrison, owner of T & L Cookie Company, has only been up and running since August, and already she has a full time business going. To anyone who has tasted her decorated sugar cookies, this comes as no surprise. Tammy can create a cookie for just about any holiday or theme party, wedding, or get-together imagin able, and already has plans to ex pand her business. Rij. ht now she's taking orders for her Thanksgiving and Christmas cookies, as well as orders for Supcrbowl parties and weddings. Tammy along with her daughter Chris work out of her home, which has been licenced as a domestic business by the Depart ment of Agriculture. She plans to attend more than a dozen holiday bazaars between now and Christmas. Additionally, T&L recently won the Wal-Mart Championship Bake-off for the Dallas, Oregon store and will compete for the national title. "It was really exciting to win that competition," said Tammy. "It was sponsored by Wal Mart and Sunbeam." Tammy plans to utilize some of the facilities at Small Business Development for her com pany, too. "I really want to design a brochure that describes what I do, and list prices and types of cookies," she said. Beginning in January, T& L will offer other kinds of cookies as well as muffins. "Right now I'm planning recipes for apple-cranberry, chocolate-zucchini, and other muffins," she said. Also, Tammy designs and makes her own cookie cutters, and can make just about any shape or design. She recently reproduced the Century 21 logo for the real estate company, and has made the Casino's logo, too. If your business is having a meeting or company party, cookies with your business logo make a fun and interesting dessert or snack. Tammy and Chris are based in Dallas, Oregon and will make deliveries to anyone within a 30-mile radius of Dallas. Ail On October 14 the Small Business Development department and ONABEN spon sored a marketing seminar. Gus Kostopulos of Kostopuos Marketing facilitated the seminar that was attended by fifteen entrepreneurial community members. Gus taught the group about guerrilla marketing as well as pointed out the profound differences between product features and product benefits. Many participants commented that this was a well-delivered and interesting presentation.
