Make a Difference
Day... after day...
Ever thought about doing something with
kids in the local community? Here's your
chance. The Tribe and Casino are sponsor
ing Junior Achievement in Grand Ronde and
Willamina Schools.
What's Junior Achievement? Junior
Achievement is a national non-profit orga
nization whose mission is to educate youth
about the U.S. free market economy. Not
only does Junior Achievement offer fun, in
teractive programs designed to teach kids
about business, but it also emphasizes work
force readiness.
What role would you play in this? We're
looking for volunteers to present the cur
riculum to local students. You'd attend a
one hour training session, observe your
classroom for one hour, and then present
the materials to your class. Here is the time
commitment by grade: Kindergarten thru
. 4th grade: five 30-minute sessions; 5th thru
6th grade: five 45-minute sessions; and 7th
thru 8th grade: eight 45-minute sessions.
: , What's in it for you? You get a chance to
spend one-on-one time with local students,
watching them grow and learn. You get the
opportunity to build your skill inventory.
Have you ever been asked to give a presen
tation, and been nervous about it? This is
your chance to build public speaking skills
in a safe, fun environment. We need volun
teers, and would love to have your partici
pation. Call Shelley Hanson at 879-3737.
