The giveaway is a promotion by Fleetwood in celebration of becoming the first U.S. home builder to construct one mil lion homes, according to the Oregon Manu factured Housing Association. Drawings in the One in a Million Fleetwood Homes Giveaway Celebration will be held on October 9, November 6, and December 11, and January 8. One home will be given away in each drawing. According to Tim Van Horn, Northwest Marketing Manager for Fleetwood, approxi mately 24 Oregon-based retailers are par ticipating in the promotion. Also, as part of the four-month promo tion, a number of the Fleetwood retailers will be making a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for every home sold. To enter, stop by a participating retailer and fill out an entry form. Ever thought about doing something with kids in the local community? Here's your chance. The Tribe and Casino are sponsor ing Junior Achievement in Grand Ronde and Willamina Schools. What's Junior Achievement? Junior Achievement is a national non-profit orga nization whose mission is to educate youth about the U.S. free market economy. Not only does Junior Achievement offer fun, in teractive programs designed to teach kids about business, but it also emphasizes work force readiness. What role would you play in this? We're looking for volunteers to present the cur riculum to local students. You'd attend a one hour training session, observe your classroom for one hour, and then present the materials to your class. Here is the time commitment by grade: Kindergarten thru . 4th grade: five 30-minute sessions; 5th thru 6th grade: five 45-minute sessions; and 7th thru 8th grade: eight 45-minute sessions. : , What's in it for you? You get a chance to spend one-on-one time with local students, watching them grow and learn. You get the opportunity to build your skill inventory. Have you ever been asked to give a presen tation, and been nervous about it? This is your chance to build public speaking skills in a safe, fun environment. National Native American Honor Society There is a National Native American Honor Society in existence in the United States. In order to join you must be a member of an Indian tribe and you must complete one grading period and receive a 4.00 GPA. There is an application process and members are mailed packets of information. For each grading period, term or semester, that the stu dent earns a 4.00 GPA, heshe will receive an eagle pin. More information about the society will be announced in future issues of Smoke Signals. Students of all ages are eligible to apply. One of the goals of the society is to have 2,000 members by the year 2000! Hopefully some of our own tribal students will be one of those 2000. NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY Environmental Assessment for the PROPOSED ELDERS' HOUSING PROJECT This notice is to advise interested parties that an Environmental Assessment (EA) is available for the proposed Elders' Housing Project. The EA discloses detailed descriptions of the proposed actions, alternatives to the proposed ac tions and an analysis of the likely environmental consequences of the proposed actions and alternatives. On October 1 , 1 997 the EA will be available for public review for 30 days. Minimum Qualifications, Experience And Training: The preferred level of formal academic preparation for this position is an Associates degree in Medical Record Technology from an accredited pro gram. Special Licensing and Other Requirements: 1 . This position requires certification by the American Record Association as an accredited Record Technician or eligibility to take the qualifying examina tion at the time of appointment. 2.
