SMOKE SIGNALS
Health and Wellness Center at completion stage; moving tribal offices
Completion of the Health Clinic project,
including all site work, is scheduled for Oc
tober 8, 1997. Tentative plans for staff
move-in will take place September 8-15.
These dates will be better refined closer to
September 1. The departments making the
move in September will include the Medi
cal Clinic, Dental Clinic, Support Services,
Vocational Rehab., A & D Counseling,
Mental Health, and Community Resources.
The Clinic is the design in the shape of a
medicine wheel, with a wing out from all
four sides.
Wing A will house all Counseling (Men
tal Health, A & D, and Vocational Rehab).
Wing B is Dental, patient registration,
medical records, CHS, Support Services,
and Billing.
Wing C will house medical services with
Optometry, Lab, and X-Ray to come a little
later.
Wing D will be all of Wellness, Facility
Management (Maintenance and House
keeping), and a Pharmacy.
The upstairs wings will consist of Ad
ministration, Division Managers, Quality
Improvement Coordinator, Assistant Man
agers, Health System Specialist, Personnel
Specialist, Controller, and a Health Insur
ance Specialist. (Some of these jobs have
not been filled yet.) Also included upstairs
are three conference rooms that can be di
vided into smaller rooms, a presentation
kitchen with a mirror for easy viewing, and
a library.
In the center atrium will hang a 500 pound
mobile of several hundred silhouettes of
salmon that was donated to the Tribe. There
will be ceramic tiles made by tribal mem
bers and staff, sculptures, masks, and ban
ners throughout the clinic. The Memory
Bricks that were purchsed by tribal mem
bers will be randomly placed in the main
sidewalk at the entrance.

The Tribe's Natural Resource Division is no longer working out of modular
offices. They finally moved into the brand new facility located on Hebo
Road. The two buildings will house staff, fire trucks, and misc. equipment.
