Seeking women interested
in business partnership
A new program, entitled "Venture Out," is inviting
Native American women to create a new form of
business ownership called "Venture Teams. "
An Open House is scheduled to introduce the program
in Grand Ronde on June 13 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the
Molalla Room at 28840 Salmon River Highway. Partici
pants are assisted with every aspect of business ownership
through the following components:
1 Instruction business and technical training. The
training will be held on June 26 and 27 from 9 a.m to 4
p.m. in the Education Classroom, and July 9 from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. in the Molalla Room.
2 On-going Technical Assistance one-on-one busi
ness counseling.
3 Locating Appropriate Sources of Operating Funds
helping owners secure money needed to buy equip
ment andor supplies.
4 Marketing Support marketing the business prod
uct or services.
The "Venture Teams" will consist of three to five women
with similar interests to form home-based andor income
supplementing businesses. "Venture Out" is seeking women
who posses special skills, talents, and abilities found in small
business owners, but who may not consider business own
ership because of the large commitments involved. Through
"Venture Teams" a group of women can divide up neces
sary assignments, time, and responsibilities between all its
partners. This allows individual team members to contrib
ute their personal strengths to run a business they might not
choose to operate alone.
The business possibilities are endless. Examples of the
types of businesses "Venture Teams" might start are Cater
ing; Native American Arts and Crafts; Cleaning Services;
Daycare or Elder care; Phone Messaging Services; Payroll
Services; Packaging; Sewing or Beading; or Landscaping.
This is a new partnership program among ON ABEN (Or
egon Native American Business and Entrepreneurial Net
work), the Small Business Association's OWBO (Office of
Women" s Business Ownership), and the Grand Ronde Tribe.
To learn more about the "Venture Out" program, please
