All (a To celebrate National Children's Dental Health Month, the Dental Clinic sponsored the 4th Annual Molar Roller Skating Party and Dental Health Fair held at St. Michael's Church on February 21 . This year's theme was "The Wizard of Ahhs Follow the Yellow Brick Road to a Healthy Smile." Many tribal and community children attended. Twenty-four applications were received, and seven appointments were made. The new Committee will convene this month to determine who will be asked to serve on the subcommittees. The seven members of the Pow wow Committee are: Donna Casey, Carol Cleason, Dana Lcno, Mark Cook, Jon George, Kathy Tom, and Joann Mercicr. Two alternates were chosen: Mychal Lcno and Dakota Whitccloud. Kathryn Harrison, Tribal Council Chair, asked if Coun cil would like to appoint Jackie Provost and Buddy Haskins to serve as Head Woman Dancer and Head Man Dancer at the Pow-wow this year. Council agreed by consensus. Also at the February 19 meeting, Enrollment Coordina tor Margo Mercier requested approval of the applicants the Enrollment Committee has recommended for tribal mem bership. The Council approved 234 applications for mem bership. The Tribe's total enrollment of living members now stands at 3,765. Linda Layden, Tribal Housing Director, presented Coun cil with the proposed rules and regulations for the new Manufactured Housing Park, which they approved. Committee positions open The TRIBAL ELECTION BOARD will have three vacancies in May. If you are interested in participating in the electoral process of the Tribe and learning more about Tribal Council as the governing body of the Tribe, please obtain a committee application from Jackie Whislcr and return to her by April 1, 1997. The VETERAN'S COMMITTEE is also seeking new members who are tribal members and have served in the Armed Forces. If you are interested, please contact Buddy Haskins at (503)879-2410. Also, if you are interested in serving on the SPIRIT MOUNTAIN CASINO BOARD OF DIRECTORS, the Board would like to keep an ongoing file of resumes and letters of interest from tribal members with a background in business who would like to be considered for appoint ment in the future. Election Board announcement To ensure complete fairness in the Tribal Council elec toral process, the Election Board is asking that all tribal members whose signature or handwriting may have changed due to illness or handicap to please fill out a new Voter Registration Card. Over time, our signatures may change, and the Election Board needs to be certain that the signa ture on your ballot matches the one we have on file. Other wise, we may assume someone else filled out your ballot and voted for you. If you think you may need to update your Registration Card, please contact Tracy Dugan at the tribal offices. She will be able to supply you with the proper forms. Don't forget Tribal Council nominations will be held at the May General Council meeting.
