IZ3 Tribe celebrates thirteen years of restoration By Tracy Dugan The annual Tribal Restoration Celebration was held Saturday, Novem ber 23 at Grand Ronde Elementary School and included a meal of salmon and ham, member testimonies, and a mini pow-wow. More than 200 tribal members and their families came to celebrate the event and reflect on this important day in Grand Ronde tribal history. After the meal was served, Pow-wow Committee Chairman Merle Leno asked that Tribal Council Chair Kathryn Harrison say a few words about what Restoration has meant to her. Kathryn spoke briefly about the impor tance of recognizing the Tribe's struggles and remembering those who sacrificed for the Tribe. She said Coun cil decided not to invite any guests to speak in order to give tribal members an opportunity to talk about what Res toration has meant to them. . "You all are the real special guests," Kathryn said. Many members did take the podium to share their experiences about being a tribal member, what they are grateful for, and how the Tribe has helped their lives. Afterward, the pow-wow be gan. All the Royalty girls were there, the Veterans' Color Guard, and three guest drum groups. l ft , i f - A: ".. ' 7 - I ft J ' i ).
