October 15, 1996 r r- T 1 -i SMOKE SIGNALS i Want to change your life? Complete your GED i Missed a few classes? It's not too late to start GED classes. Many programs offer open enrollment for most of the term. So, if you're wanting to complete your GED requirements, now is a good time to start or (re-start). Call your local community col lege or our Tribal Adult Education program for more infor mation. We would like to add that it is the policy of the Adult Education Program to encourage high school students to stay in school. While the GED program answers a need for many people, it is a challenging, self-paced program which requires 12th grade reading and math skills to pass the five tests. Students who drop out of school thinking a GED is a quick degree are often surprised at the level of commit ment and study they must make in order to earn their GED certificate. That High School Diploma or GED Certificate is a valu able possession and also gives you an advantage in the job market. Many employers, including Spirit Mountain Ca sino, require High School or GED certification to get or remain employed. Help stack the deck in your favor, stay in school. If that is no longer a possibility, start working toward your GED. The rewards are truly yours. Spon sored in partnership with Chemeketa Community College, classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Education Training Building in Grand Ronde.
