DIVISION: Nanitch Sahallie Youth Residential Treatment Center
Keizer, Oregon
CLOSING DATE: THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 1996
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Is a member of a multi-disciplinary team in an
intensive residential chemical dependency treatment program that uses a
holistic approach designed to empower Native American youth to make
choices which allow them to lead happy, healthy, productive lives while
being clean and sober. The Education Coordinator is responsible for the
design and implementation of the educational and recreational therapy
component of the program and for maintaining certification as an alternate
school.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: The preferred level
of formal academic preparation for this position is a Master's degree (MA or
MED) or professional school equivalent. The skills and knowledge acquired
are directly applicable to the work performed and persons with this level of
education would not be overqualified. Course work in techniques of
adolescent education, assessment, developmental stages of young people
from ages 10 to 18 and Native American studies would be examples of
academic knowledge acquired.
LENGTH OF WORK EXPERIENCE: The work performed by this position
requires the incumbent to possess over 7 years up to and including 10 years
of teaching experience at the middle or high school level.
SPECIAL LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1 . First Aid and CPR Certificate.
2. Valid Oregon Driver's License and safe driving record.
3. State of Oregon teaching certificate.
4. Native American employees preferred, knowledge of Native American
culture required.
Wellness Education Counselor

DIVISION: Health and Human Services
POSITION REPORTS TO: Wellness Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Wellness
JOB LEVEL: 8
CLASSIFICATION: Nonexempt
CLOSING DATE: THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 1996
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To contribute to the Tribe's mission by providing
educational services in the areas of healthy life styles, physical fitness,
substance abuse prevention and safety skills for Tribal members providing
educational, recreational and cultural activities in an effort to build and
enhance a Tribal community rich in healthy families and capable people with
strong cultural values.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree
or completion of equivalent technical training and experience. Knowledge of
disease prevention such as AIDS, fetal alcohol syndrome, sexually
transmitted diseases; Native American culture and group process techniques
are examples of course work acquired at this level.
