I.JHIH-LLUIU.N Ml ,l OMSI SALMON CAMP A Science, Math and Technology Camp for Native American Indian Students American Indian middle school students are invited to explore science, nature, natural resource management, and geography with the Oregon Museum of Science and Indus try (OMSI) and the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). Two sessions of Salmon Camp will be offered this summer for 25 campers each: SESSION 1 : June 23-28 - For students entering 5th or 6th grade SESSION 2: June 30-July 5 - For students entering 7th or 8th grade Salmon Camp will follow the life cycle of the salmon from the headwaters of the Warm Springs River to the Pacific Ocean. KONAWAY NIKA TILLICUM This is a residential program for Native American students in grades 5th and 6th. The camp will be held August 23-29 at Southern Oregon State College and Rogue Com munity College in Ashland, Oregon. Native American youth will interact with students from throughout Oregon while being challenged by creative, imaginative instructors and activities. Students will spend time with tribal elders and tribal leaders during classes, lectures, and outdoor presentations. Candlelight Walk A candlelight walk is currently being or ganized in Grand Ronde, and is scheduled to be held on Memorial Day--May 27. The walk will take place at dusk and will be held in memory of those tribal members we have lost to dmgs and alcohol. This is a time for you and others who have diabetes to share information and to learn new ideas. Wc will be offering snacks and recipe ideas. This group is open to anyone. It w ill be held once a month at 1 p.m. in the Wellness Building Conference Room at the main tribal offices. A Diabetic Informational Workshop is scheduled for Thursday, June 20.
