ABEGED are being offered to members
of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
0 CLASS TIMES are Wednesdays from
4:30 to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 11:30
a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
0 STUDY CENTER is open Tuesdays
from Noon - 2 p.m.; Wednesdays from 2 -4
p.m.; and Thursdays from 1:30 - 3 p.m.
& SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS:
May 14, 15, 16; No class the week of May
21-24, but study center is open; May 28,
29, 30; June 4, 5, 6; June 11, 12, 13; and
June 18, 19, 20.
Also, the Adult Education Department
would like to hear from tribal members who
have completed their GED requirements in
the last 12 months. If you are planning to
graduate with your GED program, we can
help with cap and gown costs. We can also
help with GED test tuition or fees for a ba
sic skills development class.

Tribal Council is interested in purchas
ing a limited number of authentic Grand
Ronde Indian arts and crafts. These items
will be part of a gift package sent to the
South Korea Parliament (who recently vis
ited the Casino) as a gesture of goodwill on
behalf our tribe. If you feel you have some
items that would be appropriate for the Tribe
to purchase or if you wish to donate an item,

Stories and photos wanted for Annual Report
The 1995-96 Grand Ronde Tribal Annual Report will honor tribal
veterans. We are interested in hearing your stories, seeing your old
pictures (in uniform, on duty, on leave!), and talking to you about your
military experiences. DON'T BE SHY! We assure you that nothing will
be used without your approval and permission.
If you are willing to share your military experiences and anecdotes
with the Annual Report writing team, please call the Smoke Signals
office and leave your name and number. We will contact you and take

OMSI SALMON CAMP
A Science, Math and Technology Camp for Native American Indian Students
American Indian middle school students are invited to explore science, nature, natural
resource management, and geography with the Oregon Museum of Science and Indus
try (OMSI) and the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES).
Two sessions of Salmon Camp will be offered this summer for 25 campers each:
SESSION 1 : June 23-28 - For students entering 5th or 6th grade
SESSION 2: June 30-July 5 - For students entering 7th or 8th grade
Salmon Camp will follow the life cycle of the salmon from the headwaters of the Warm
Springs River to the Pacific Ocean.

SPIRITUAL ENCAMPMENT
This camp will be held on July 1 1-13 in Grand Ronde. This camp is sponsored by
Wellness. There will be more information coming out, so be watching for it.

KONAWAY NIKA TILLICUM
This is a residential program for Native American students in grades 5th and 6th. The
camp will be held August 23-29 at Southern Oregon State College and Rogue Com
munity College in Ashland, Oregon. Native American youth will interact with students
from throughout Oregon while being challenged by creative, imaginative instructors
and activities. Students will spend time with tribal elders and tribal leaders during classes,
lectures, and outdoor presentations. APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 31, 1996

Candlelight Walk
A candlelight walk is currently being or
ganized in Grand Ronde, and is scheduled
to be held on Memorial Day--May 27.
The walk will take place at dusk and will
be held in memory of those tribal members
we have lost to dmgs and alcohol. If y ou

Diabetic support
if you are diabetic, this support group is
for you. This is a time for you and others
who have diabetes to share information and
to learn new ideas. Wc will be offering
snacks and recipe ideas. This group is open
to anyone. It w ill be held once a month at 1
p.m. in the Wellness Building Conference
Room at the main tribal offices.
A Diabetic Informational Workshop is
scheduled for Thursday, June 20. Kaylenc
McCollough, Diabetic Education Coordi
nator at Valley Community Hospital will
share information and answer questions. If
