Program's Annual Spring Pow-wow on
April 6. It was held in Eugene at Sheldon
High School. Nikki Norwest, an Honorary
Royalty Princess, represented the Grand
Ronde Royalty Court.
The Color Guard will be in Springfield
on May 3 and Eugene on May 11 and 12
for other pow-wows. They will also carry
the flags at Nanitch Sahallie's Alumni Gath
ering orApril 20.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Here's your invitation to celebrate Cinco
de Mayo, Mexico's Independence Day, at
Spirit Mountain Casino. There will be a
grand fiesta featuring special music, food,
fun, and games.
Cinco de Mayo, Spanish for the Fifth of
May, will be celebrated Friday, May 3
through Sunday, May 5. The Casino will
have colorful Mexican decor, strolling
Mariachi marching bands, mouth-watering
Mexican food in the buffet, and a drawing
for an exciting Mexican vacation for two.

Summer Preschool
Program enrollment
The Youth Education Division is offer
ing a Summer Program for children 3 years
old through pre-kindergarten. There is open
enrollment for 20 children. Native Ameri
can children will receive preference. The
program will operate Monday through Fri
day from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Children will spend the morning hours
in a pre-kindergarten readiness program and
the afternoon hours in day care setting. The
fee is $200 per month. Adjustments to the
fee may be according to financial need. En
rollment forms and further information may
be obtained from the Youth Education Co
ordinator, Wendi Spencer, at 879-2280.
Also, Twa Sunchako Learning Center has
been in operation for four years, and all are
welcome to observe the current program
any Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday af
ternoon through mid-May, Please contact
the teacher, Teressa Olson, at 879-2279 to
arrange a visit.
Enrollment will close June IS in order to
see the program up for the summer months.
NARA Rumor Control
The Federal Government's funding cri
sis has generated a great deal of specula
tion and rumor about the future of the Na
tive American Rehabilitation Association of
the Northwest, Inc. (NARA). NARA would
like to settle the rumors with the fact that
they are open and continue to provide drug
and alcohol services and primary health care
services the American Indians from all over
the nation.
NARA is located in Portland. For more

Bid proposals wanted
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
Natural Resources Division is accepting bid
proposals for a two-year road maintenance
services contract. The work will be per
formed on an on-call, as needed basis. Road
maintenance work will typically occur in a
forest setting and consist of the following:
Roadside brushing, using a mechanical (ro
tary type) brush cutter.
Grading and shaping roads using a motor
ized grader.
Clearing culverts, ditch lines, and road
banks of debris using a backhoe and loader.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 7 p.m.
Tuesday, April 30, 1996. The Natural
Resources Division reserves the right to re
ject any or all bids. For further informa

Lion's Club to host
a variety show
The Willamina West Valley Lion's
Club will host its annual Not So Pro
fessional Variety Show this month.
Performances are scheduled for April
19 and 20 at Willamina Middle
School.
Admission is $4 for adults, and $2
for children. Kids under 5 are ad
mitted free. All proceeds will be do
