ELDERS! Important
information needed
As you are aware, the tribal members have identified
Health Security as a high priority in determining service
for members. In response to this, Tribal Council has begun
the process of looking at some kind of health coverage for
all members, regardless of place of residence. This inves
tigation is well under way and results of the research will
be shared with all members within the next few months.
Because of the large number of tribal members and the very
wide range of places of residence, we are going to try phas
ing in any new services to different parts of the population.
We are looking at beginning the new health service with
a health supplement program for elders. The current re
search shows a number of different programs available
which would supplement Medicare coverage for those 65
and over. As part of this research, we must determine the
current coverage for tribal seniors. A letter has gone out to
those for whom we have an address, which requests certain
information about their current coverage. IT IS EX
TREMELY IMPORTANT THAT THIS INFORMATION
BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED TO US AS SOON
AS POSSIBLE. If you receive a letter, please complete it
and return it to us. If you have not received a letter, please
contact Valorie Sheker, ext. 2490 at 1-800-422-0232 and
one will be forwarded to you.
We will be supplying more complete information on the
elder coverage as soon as we get the results of this request
for information.
Members have supplied similar information in the past
to the Tribe, which enabled us to complete an initial study.

Enrollment Report
The Enrollment Office has completed the appli
cation process for 82 new members. Congratu
lations to all new members! The applications
are available through the enrollment office on request.
All completed applications are reviewed by the En
rollment Committee in June and December each year.
You will find below the enrollment criteria.
Eligibility Requirements for
Enrollment
An applicant must be a descendant of a Grand Ronde
member, must possess 116 degree or MORE total In
dian blood, and must file an application for enrollment
in accordance with the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde Enrollment Ordinance, and be accepted as a
member by the Enrollment Committee.
Dual Enrollment is Prohibited
If you are an enrolled member of another federally
recognized tribe, you must relinquish your other tribal
rights PRIOR to being enrolled at Grand Ronde.
1 Birth records are used to prove descendancy from
a Grand Ronde member. It is the responsibility
of an applicant to prove that they meet the eligi
bility requirements.
2 Blood quantum is based on documentation of an
applicant's ancestors possession of Indian blood.
The 1 954 termination membership roll is the Con
federated Tribes of Grand Ronde "base roll." The blood
quantum listed for ancestors on this roll is used to de
termine the blood degree of an applicant.
3 Grand Ronde will include an applicant's posses
sion of other federally recognized tribal blood in
the total blood quantum, PROVIDED THAT
THE APPLICANT SUBMITS:
(a) Certification of Indian Blood of other tribal blood
that is possessed by the applicant.
(b) Any birth documentation needed to prove
descendancy from other tribal members.
All applicants may claim 12 the Indian blood de
gree possessed by both parents.
4 All applicants must prove their social and eco
nomic ties to the Tribe by having a parent on the
roll, providing employment within the Tribe and
residence in the 6 county service area, or providing
letters from 3 sponsors who are enrolled in the Tribe
and who are 18 years or older and not an immediate
family member. More information is available in the

Request for bids:
Tribal vehicle cleaning
and lube service
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde's Purchas
ing Department is open to receiving bids for the provi
sion of cleaning and lube service on the tribally owned
managed vehicles which include sedans, vans and pick
up trucks.
The vehicle cleaning service includes:
1) an initial full detailing wash, wax, and complete
interior cleaning and shampoo of the carpet on each
vehicle;
2) a twice a month wash and complete interior cleaning.
Every 3,000 miles the vehicles will
have lube service that includes:
1) changing of the oil and replacement of oil filter;
2) filling the brake fluid, window cleaning fluid, power
steering fluid, rear end oil, transmission fluid;
3) anti-freeze reading, radiator level and air filter
checked.
All vehicles during cleaning and servicing will have
front and rear brakes tested, muffler and fan belts
checked. Tires will be aired up, as required. The con
tractor should notify the Purchasing Department of any
damage to the vehicle or of any repair requirements.
The contractor should include within
the bid document:
1 ) pricing for each category of service on each veh icle:
a) detailing, b) lube, c) cleaning (sedans, vans, pick
ups separately);
2) provide a copy of: a) business tax number and
b) current auto insurance covering the indi vidual(s) who
would be responsible for driving the Tribe's vehicles;
and
3) a statement of the Contractors Chemical Disposal
procedures for meeting the State of Oregon's environ
mental regulations for safe disposal of the chemical
waste.
