Out of a class of twenty-three, twenty students successfully completed the intensive ll -week training program. In attendance were representatives from Chemeketa Community College, Office of the President, Mr. Jerry Steiner; and T.E.D. Center, Ms. Michelle Larsen. Represent ing Clackamas Community College, were Ms. Diana Shepherd and Mr. Jim Brouillette, of the Public Safety & Crimi nal Justice Program. All graduates received a Certificate of Completion for the LE-4502 Spirit Moun tain Casino Security Academy. Special ar eas of certification included: First Aid & CPR, A.S.P. Baton Weaponry, Chemical Spray Weaponry, and Fire Arms Safety. Students who completed the program also earned six college credit hours. , . ... . . EXff i r T1 b' lit . Graduates of the first Security Guard George, Jerry George, Ray Green, William Academy are: Fred Billings, Jimmy Bran- Grenia, Shawn Hutton, Randall Leno, Mark don, Eric Canty, Michael Colton, Monte Long, Joann Mercier, John Pearsall, Michael Ring, Jess Robertson, Ron Robertson, Virginia Robertson, Donica Rook, Larry Turvey, and William Webb. A big thank you to Clackamas Commu nity College and Chemeketa Community College for all the support and assistance in planning, implementing, and conducting the training program. The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde's Education Division is looking to sponsor a second Security Guard Academy. Again, it would be in partnership with Chemeketa Community College and Clackamas Community College. The class is tentatively scheduled for late September or early October 1995. A very special congratulations to the graduates of the 1st Spirit Mountain Secu rity Guard Academy 1995. You deserve a lot of credit for your accomplishment! Update: Spirit Mountain Development Corporation Spirit Mountain Staff Grows Robert (Bob) Robbins has joined the Casino team as House Director. Bob has 14 years experience with Stuart Anderson Black Angus Restaurants, including Corporate Vice-President of Personnel. Bob also worked as Regional Manager for Sea Galley and owned and operated his own restaurant, The Sandpiper in Lake Oswego. As House Director, Bob will oversee all building operations other than gaming. Catherine (Kate) White has come on board as Table Games Manager. Kate brings a wealth of experience to her new job, including serving as Lead Pit Supervisor at the Colusa Casino, an Indian gaming facility in California. In her role as Table Games Manager, Kate will supervise all poker and blackjack card games at the Casino. Spirit Mountain's new payroll assistant is Karen Olson. Karen has six years expe rience with Little Six, Inc. in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Little Six owns the Mystic Lake Casino as served as a consultant to Spirit Mountain in the Casino planning stages. At Little Six, Karen worked her way up from Money Counter to Payroll Specialist. Rene Perona will work for Spirit Mountain as a receptionist after working for Linfield College and Lonsford Pheasants. Rene is a Sheridan resident. Casino to feature Pepsi and Starbucks Pepsi and Starbucks have joined the Spirit Mountain team. Casino officials recently firmed up agreements with both companies. Casino patrons will be able to choose among a wide variety of Pepsi products, in cluding Pepsi Cola, Diet Pepsi, Slice, Lipton Iced Tea, Ocean Spray Juices and Sweetwater bottled water. Spirit Mountain's arrangement with Pepsi builds on a long term relationship between the Grand Ronde Tribe and the soft drink company. Starbucks brings its great coffees and brand recognition to Spirit Mountain's restau rants and casino areas. In addition to the famous Starbucks House Blend, Spirit Moun tain visitors will be able to buy Starbucks espresso drinks. Soft drinks and coffee will be served free to Casino players. Job Fair to be held in Salem If you are interested in making a living from casino earnings, attend Spirit Mountain's Job Fair and find out which of many job titles interests you. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with casino personnel and fill out ap plications for the following positions, many of which have high tip potential: Black jack and Poker Dealers, Housekeepers, Valets, Slot Technicians, Casino Floor Clerks, Slot Attendants and Food & Beverage Servers. If you missed the first one, here's another chance to join us on Wednesday, August 23 from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Chemeketa Community College, Main Campus, Building 2 in Salem, Oregon.
