Elders' items missing
The Elders' Committee has
requested that the person(s) re
sponsible for removing the
brown tables from the old
mealsite to please return them.
The elders still conduct craft
class and other activities from
the house, and need their
tables.
Also, seven crystal salad
plates that have just been pur
chased, are missing. Anyone
with information regarding the
location of these items should
please contact the Tribe to
make arrangements for their
return.
Native American art show
The Caswell Gallery and Studio is offering a Native American art
show from July 22 through Sept. 3. July 22, 23, 29, and 30 will high
light special events by local Native Americans; traditional drumming
and dancing, smoked salmon and fry bread, storytelling and legends by
Gerry Raining Bird, and an opportunity to meet the featured artists. The
show features over 20 native American artists, including Grand Ronde
tribal member Lon Mercier. Lon created the illustration of Martha Jane
Sands that Mr. Caswell used as model for the sculpture being created as
a tribal showcase for Spirit Mountain Casino.
For Grand Ronde tribal members, the unveiling of the maquette of
the Martha Jane Sands sculpture will be a "not to be missed" feature of
this show.
The Caswell Gallery is located at 201 W. Columbia River Highway,
Troutdale, Oregon. For more information about the show call the Caswell

Must be enrolled in the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Commu
nity of Oregon.

Must be able to attend Royalty Pageant, Grand Ronde Pow-wow and Pa
rade in August (August 18-20, 1995).
Judging will be based on raffle ticket sales only (the girl who sells the most
raffle tickets will receive a sash and small crown during the Royalty Pageant
on Friday of the Pow-wow, August 18, 1995. All participants will receive a
sash.)
All proceeds from raffle ticket sales will be used for the
Grand Ronde Royalty functions.
Any donations of raffle prizes are welcome!
There is no deadline to enter. All tickets and money must be turned in to
Royalty Committee no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 1995.

Blankets needed for encampment
Calling all people... The Spiritual and Wellness Encampment is just
two weeks away. We are in need of blankets and a large canvas tarp for
the sweatlodge. We need 50 blankets and we need them soon!
If you can donate blankets or a canvas tarp, please bring them to the
Tribal Family Action Program (TFAP) Building.
Please try to bring them during business hours instead of leaving them
on our doorstep, because they may get damaged from the weather.
These blankets should be old blankets that you won't be needing again.
We would like to thank you all in advance for your generous dona
tions. It is greatly appreciated.
Summer dance and craft classes for pow-wow

Korey Wade Busby is the kind
of grandson any grandparent
would love to have.
A tribal member from Anchor
age, Alaska, Korey entered the
Marine Corps when he was 18,
and has, at the age of 2 1 , already
traveled more places in the world
than most people see in a lifetime.
A graduate of H.A. Diamond
High School, Korey plans to live
in Oregon after he is discharged
from the military. Both his par
ents have passed away, and he
would like to get more involved
with the Tribe and attend the Uni
versity of Oregon.

his grandmother, Dorothy Greene.

Sam Henny, Development Specialist for Small Business Development
is in the first phase of organizing an Arts and Crafts Gallery to be lo
cated in Grand Ronde. The gallery will house all types of tribal mem
ber, Native American, local and regional art work; both cultural and
contemporary. If you produce any type of craft or artwork, Sam would
like you to contact her either by mail or telephone so she can mail you a
questionnaire.
