Health Center update Planning for a tribal Health and Wellness Center moved ahead on Wednesday, May 28, as the Tribal Council passed a resolution to ac cept a financial feasibility analy sis on the project. The next step will be to complete the design of the clinic. The Health and Wellness Cen ter will be about 26,430 square feet and include the medical, den tal, pharmacy, community coun seling services and health admin istration. Financing may be by is suance of revenue bonds. The financial feasibility study was undertaken to determine if the center could meet debt payments to cover the costs of constructing the facility, and annual operating costs. The study indicated that the facility could generate sufficient revenues to cover the debt pay ments and could provide addi tional revenues for the Tribe. Funding for the services would come from Indian Health Service contract funds and third-party re imbursements. The expected cost of the facility is $3.5 million. Construction could start in April 1 996 and opening would be April 1997. The clinic would serve tribal and community members. Tribal members and other Indian user population is estimated at 79, while the non Indian user population is estimated at 21.
