He was born April 15, 1979 in Dallas to Chris and Virginia (Kimsey) Baker. He was a stu dent at Willamina High School. He loved to hunt, fish and go camping. He loved his Indian culture and loved to drum. He also like driving. He was a tribal member. Survivors include his father of Pendleton; his mother of Grand Ronde; brother, Joshua of Pendleton; fiance, Molly Rimer of Grand Ronde; and grandparents, Marvin Kimsey of Grand Ronde; Eleanor Kimsey of Grand Ronde; Karen Lowery of Warrenton and Charles Baker of Pendleton. Services were on May 3 at the Grand Ronde Nazarene Church. Interment followed at the Confed erated Tribes Cemetery. Arrange ments were by Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home. Must be enrolled in the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon. Age Category: Girls 5 years and under Must have Regalia Must be able to attend Royalty Pageant, Grand Ronde Pow Wow and Parade in August (August 18-20, 1995). Judging will be based on raffle ticket sales only (the girl who sells the most raffle tickets will receive a sash and small crown during the Royalty Pageant on Friday of the Pow Wow, August 1 8, 1995. All participants will receive a sash.) All proceeds from raffle ticket sales will be used for the Grand Ronde Royalty functions. Any donations of raffle prizes are welcome! Vietnam Memorial A bronze sculpture depicting the Native American experience in Vietnam will be unveiled Sept. 16, 1995 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. The bronze sculpture will be 6 1 12 feet tall, and depicts an Ameri can Indian soldier. He wears jungle fatigues and is holding a rifle in one hand, a staff of eagle feathers in the other. The statue will be mounted on a red granite base with names of American Indians killed in action casualties etched in black. The sculptor is Harry White horse, owner of Whitehorse Gal lery in Madison, WI. He is also a veteran. If you know the names of any Grand Ronde tribal members killed in action during the Viet nam War, you may call or write the National Native American Vietnam Memorial Fund to add their names to the sculpture at no cost. On April 20th Kristen Wheeler, 1994 95 Miss Grand Ronde, and Camille Mercier, Royalty Com mittee advisor, met with 7 young ladies to discuss the Royalty guidelines and responsibilities. Courtney Gallagher is running for Sr. Miss Grand Ronde. Diana Robertson and Courtney Warren are running for Jr. Miss Grand Ronde. Those on Honorary Court include Nikki Norwest, Brittany Grout, Andrea Childers and Ashley Bedortha. Please support these young la dies with encouragement and pur chasing of raffle tickets. Herron, 18, will graduate from high school in Santa Rosa, CA. on June 9th, He was involved with the swim team as a manager and Mark West Big League in which he plays shortstop and pitcher. He has played since he was eight years old. He was also a part of .the School Career Fair '94-'95. Micky's future includes enlist ing in the U.S. Army. He will Birth announcement Congratulations to Charles and Stephanie (Mercier) Hitchcock on the birth of their daughter, Ashlee Michelle. She was born on March 11,1995. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces. The family is stationed in Bremerton, WA. Charles is serv ing on the U.S.S. Nimitz Aircraft Carrier. Ashlee's grandparents are: Larry and Michelle Weber of Sa lem; Dennis Mercier of Grand Ronde; Cathy and Jesse Robertson, Jr. of Grand Ronde; and Lawrence and Arlene Hitchcock of San Jose, CA. (Lafferty) McAbee; and nephew of Marline (Neault) Groshong of Kirkland, WA. His great-grandparents were Paul and Elizabeth Lafferty of Grand Ronde. Baseball, roping, bowling, 4 wheeling, pool, and country mu sic are Micky's favorite hobbies. He has worked the past year to help with his gas and insurance for his Ford pickup.
