state regulations about taking shall apply to tribal hunting by
tribal members.
7. State trespass laws to apply:
State trespass laws and other laws governing rights of
landowners and tenants shall apply to all tribal hunting.
8. Taking of other than deer, elk or bear prohibited:
There shall be no taking of animals other than deer, elk or
bear as part of the tribal hunting privileges.
9. No commercial use:
No deer, bear or elk taken with a license issued by the Tribes
can be used for commercial purposes.
10. No state tag with tribal ID. card:
No tribal member shall purchase a state deer, elk or bear tag
to use with their tribal hunting license. Tribal hunting
privileges are valid only when a tribal hunting license is used
with a deer, elk or bear tag issued by the Tribes.
1 1 . Hunting outside the designated area:
The taking of deer, elk or bear in a geographic area other
that the established "hunting and fishing" area, (Trask
Management Unit), is prohibited.
12. Tags:
All tags will be issued from the Tribal Forestry Office
during regular office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday
through Friday. If you are unable to pick up you tag during
these hours, call (800)422-0232 to make other arrangements
or you may request your tag or tag application by mail. All
tags will be mailed by certified mail only and if retiredby mail
must be sent certified mail to Fish and Wildlife Department,
9615 Grand Ronde Road, Grand Ronde OR 97347.
Annually, the Fish and Wildlife Department shall publish
hunting tag application forms in the tribal newsletter. Please
read all of the regulations carefully. If an application for a tag
is filled out improperly, or has not reached the Fish and
Wildlife Department before the cut-off date, it will not be
considered valid and will not be entered into the tag drawing.
The deadline for submitting tag applications is Aug. 5, 1994,
5 p.m. The drawing will take place on Aug. 18, 1994, 5:30
p.m. at the Community Center.
13. Transferability:
Only a tribal elder or a handicapped person may transfer a
tag to another licensed tribal member. The transferring
' member is still responsible for reporting the status of the tag.
Tribal members who transfer a deer, elk or bear tag to an
unlicensed or suspended tribal member will be subject to
penalties.
14. Reporting:
According to the agreement between the Tribes and the
state, the Tribes are required to submit an annual fish and
wildlife report to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wild
life. Therefore tribal tags and receipts for non-kills, tag receipts
with the kill information section completed for those who
successfully fill their tags and all reports of lost tags must
reach the Tribal Fish and Wildlife Program within the
established deadlines.
Deadlines will vary due to hunt schedules. Remember, that
failing to return you tag, report kills, or lost tags could result
in other tribal members not being able to hunt and may also
result in penalties.
Whenever a deer, elk or bear is taken with a tag issued by
the Tribes, the tag shall be promptly affixed to the animal.
The information listed on the tag shall be reported to the Fish
and Wildlife Department within one working day.
15. Return deadlines
Deer - (muzzle loader, general and bow)
72 hours within end of respective season.
Elk - 24 hours within end of each season.
Bear - 72 hours with end of season.
Lost tags must be report immediately.
All return deadlines will be strictly enforced. Please check
your tag receipt carefully for the return deadline.
