Veteran's pow-wow
The Grand Ronde tribal veterans
will be holding their annual pow
wow on June 1 1 at St. Michael's
Church in Grand Ronde. Grand
Entry will be at noon. There will be
drumming, dancing, food and
crafts.

Fish and Wildlife Committee. If
you are interested in serving as a

Fund-raisers for women's drum group
The Women's Drum group is holding several fund-raising activities
in June. They have been asked to drum at the Goodwill Games in St.
Petersburg, Russia this summer and need your help to get there!

Tribal member opens gallery
Tribal member Chuck Williams, a professional photographer, has
recently opened the Columbia Gorge Gallery in The Dalles, Oregon. An
open house was held May 15 and featured the work of Thomas Robinson.
Robinson's work of black and white photagraphs depicts Celilo Falls
and the Native Americans who lived and fished there during 1932to 1957.
The exhibit will continue until June 26.
Also, on permanent display are the signed color photographs of Chuck
Williams, including selections from his current series: "We Were Here
When the Pioneers Arrived: American Indians at the End of the Oregon
Trail" and "Celebrations of Oregon: In Praise of Cultural Diversirty." The
Columbia Gorge Gallery is located at 3 18 East 4th Street in The Dalles.
New arrivals
Lee and Cindy Butler are proud
to announce the birth of their son
Leland Wayne Butler Jr. on April
21 at Valley Comunity Hospital in
Dallas, Oregon. Leland weighed
seven pounds, 13 ounces and was
20 inches long. He joins his two
year old sister Halona Rac.
Grandparents are Lillie and Reg
Butler of Silctz and Bonnie and
Chip Tom of Salem.

On May 2, Christie and Sam
Loomis became the proud parents
of a baby boy, Samson Ezra. He
weighed nine pounds, 4 ounces.
Grandparents are Marvin and
Eleanor Kimscy and Bill and Shirley
Loomis. Samson has an older sister,
Ronaele. The family resides in St.
Helens.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the design and
implementation of the treatment
education component of the
residential chemical dependency
treatment program. This includes
assessment of student needs,
developing and implementing
individual education services,
coordinating services with schools
and other community resources,
monitoring students' progress,
career education awareness,
coordinating recreational therapy
program, working with consultants
or staff in administration of
psychometric and educational
testing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree in education
with current secondary teaching
certificate; at least three years
teaching experience with a
residential population andor
alternative school setting; or any
satisfactory combination of
experience and education which
demonstrates the knowledge, skill,
and ability to perform the described
duties. MA or MED degree
preferred with qualification
certification as a chemical
dependency counselor.
KNOWLEDGE OF: Thorough
knowledge of the principles,
practices and techniques of
adolescent education including a
wide, general base of academic
subject areas. Considerable

Grand Ronde Softball
Team Takes First Place

The Grand Ronde soflball team
took first place at the co-ed
tournament sponsored by Chcmawa
Indian School on May 7.
The Grand Ronde team,
nicknamed the Coastal Rappers,
beat Warm Springs 19-18 in the
finals.
Team players arc: Dcanna Glass,
Greg Lcno, CcCc Knccland, Jim
Holmes, Steve Diaz, and Silctz
tribal members Wozzic Case and
Fonda Jackson.
All the teams showed great
leadership, sportsmanship, hustle,
and good spirit. A big thanks to all
those who participated.

outdoors in adverse weather conditions
or isolated, nigged terrain. Must
