Smoke Signals December 1993 Page 4 COMMUNITY NEWS "The Coyote Who Stole The Stars" The Coyote Who Stole the Stars is a short, cultural film that was made by some of the youth in Grand Ronde last summer with the help and supervision of the Northwest Film Center and the Grand Ronde Tribe. The project included two days of video instruction, four days of filming, and three days of editing. The kids camped out and filmed on Spirit Mountain one night. The film was featured last month at the Northwest Film Festival in Portland. Those youth who participated in making the video are: Amelia Haug, Tana Ainsworth, Tamara Ainsworth, Samson George, Solomon George, Tashina Kennedy, Teresa Henry, Diana Robertson, Charles Kneeland, Brandon Robertson, Bryan Kinslow, Krystal Schmid, Dustin Billings, and Winema Wolf. The film was produced by the Tribal Human Services Division and the Northwest Film Center. Tiny Tots Visit With Santa Tribal children six years and under and their parents are invited to Salem's Mill Creek Inn Monday, December 13 for a special health promotion from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. There will be arts and crafts, safety and prevention activities, medical and dental screenings, and lots of prizes in addition to free photos with Santa and Rudolph and tree seedlings from the Tribal Forestry department. Refreshments will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Human Services Division and all activities are free to tribal youth and their parents.
