Always ready with a story to tell, and a smile for the youngsters, he creates quite a sensation wherever he goes. He recently took part in the Makah Days Talent Show in Neah Bay where he won first place with his own composition on the piano. As a result he was featured in the Seattle Times, The picture above was taken at this year's Grand Ronde Pow-wow. The job line will give you information on what jobs the Tribe has open and the qualifications necessary to fill these positions, as well as the current status in the hiring process for a job you have already applied for. You may also contact the job line to request an Application for Employment through the mail. The job line will be updated as position openings become available, so feel free to call periodically. Restoration Celebration Planned The Grand Ronde Tribe will host a Restoration Celebration and mini pow-wow on Saturday, November 20 at the Grand Ronde Grade School. Festivities will begin at 1 2 noon. A meal will be served at 1:00 P.M. Special guest speakers will include dignitaries and tribal advocates who have helped aid the cause for restoration and continue to support tribal endeavors. There will be arts & crafts, dancing, and drumming by Shantee Klootchman Turn Turn. The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon will celebrate ten years of restoration this year. The Grand Ronde Restoration Act was signed by President Reagan November 22, 1983 after years of work and struggle. The Tribe has made many achievements during the past ten years. Nanitch Sahallie Employee of the Month: Chris Dean Chris Dean has worked for Nanitch Sahallie Jjt, , Youth Treatment Center for almost two years as both fc.' a Counselor and Recreation Coordinator. Her most t , recent recreation project, Nanitch's First Annual I M ' Fun-Run, was a total success. fji j' Chris attended the University of Guam and f ' Ctrponn Staff Ilnivprcitv onH fine Aeorwe in Wivilfh 4" and Psychology. She is a member of the Seminole U Tribe of Oklahoma. I, , ' .... - "tf . K "In working with the clients, I try to get , them involved in new activities other than their old using ways. I want to teach them that there are positive and negative paths in life." Chris has developed an aerobic program for , the clients, and they participate in monthly outings with staff. Currently, Chris is working with the Tribe's Grant Developer in the hopes of getting more outside funding for health activites like the Fun-Run. It is her hope that activities which are fun and promote wellness will help motivate the clients to stay sober. ' "Our clients here are teenagers, and need to spend time outside," she explained.
