Smoke Signals October 1993 Page 6 The following information is presented in four categories: (1) Government, (2) Social, (3) Economic, and (4) Reservation. Within each of these categories multiple budget programs occur and within each program budget multiple budgetary line items may appear to make up the total program expenditure picture for any particular program. GOVERNMENT This category includes the Tribal Council and Committees, Management and Administration, Equipment Acquisition, Professional Costs, and a Contingency Fund. SOCIAL This category includes alltribally contracted programs, most of which provide specific services to the members. These programs include all Education, Social Service, Health, Alcohol & Drug, Housing, Fish & Wildlife, Newsletter, Tribal Court, and youth primary residential treatment service activities. The main funding sources include the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Indian Health Service. This category also includes the annual trust fund expenditures for Health, Education, and Housing. Funding for the trust fund come from tribal timber revenue. ECONOMIC This category includes Economic Development department costs. RESERVATION This category includes Forest Management, LandBuilding Acquisition, Capital Improvements, Public Works, Housing, and Clinic development. It also includes facilities operation and maintenance. TRIBAL COUNCIL The Tribal Council budget reflects the costs of the operation of government, including tribal committees. The budget detail provides a breakdown of committee proposed expenditures also. Tribal committees whose responsibilities include the oversight of tribal programs and Tribal Council costs are supported both by tribal funds and indirect dollars. MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION TheManagementandAdministrationbudget reflects all administrative costs associated with the overall operation of tribal programs and services. These costs include administrative staff, including the office ofExecutive Officer, Program Operations Planning, and Accounting.
