Nanitch Sahallic Employee of the Month:
Mary Thomas
Maiy Thomas is a Karuk Tribal Member from Northern California. Mary attended
College of the Redwoods, in Eureka, California. She has been at Nanitch Sahallie one year,
working as a Counselor Technician, and in the Adjustment Phase of treatment.
Mary is a very traditional woman, and follows them closely. Her goal is to become a certified
counselor.
Mary is truly a team player at Nanitch Sahallie;
her efforts and presence is appreciated, and her co
workers feel it is a pleasure to work with her.
Mary says she is honored that they have
picked her as Employee of the Month, and is proud to
represent Nanitch. She also said she feels a closeness
with ma ny of her co-workers. Her long-term goal is to
continue to work with Native American youth. She
feels Nanitch is where she should be at this time in her
life.

Tribal Elections Information
WHO MAY VOTE: Any enrolled member of the Confederated
Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon who will be 18
years of age or older on the date of the scheduled Tribal Council
Elections.
APPLICATIONS FOR ABSENTEEE BALLOTS: Each person
applying for an absentee ballot must fill out and sign an application
form. Application forms shall be available at the Grand Ronde
Tribal Offices in Grand Ronde. Hie application forms may also be
requested from the Election Board. No request for an application
shall be valid after 5:00 P.M. on the last working day prior to the
elections.

To all tribal members and Vendors:
If you are interested in having a vendor or food booth at the 1993 Grand Ronde
Pow-wow, return the registration form below with your check or money order by June 1,
1993. You will receive a copy of the form and a receipt by return mail. Send the form
and payment to:

The Pow-wow Committee reserves the right to limit the number and type of
vendors. No "phone in" or "at the gate" registrations will be accepted. All registrations

Pow-wow Committee Needs Help
Another year has come for many Native Americans to gather in celebration and
friendship for the 10th Annual Grand Ronde Pow-wow.
The Pow-wow Committee has openings for two workers, 16 years or older. The
work is in kitchen help and clean-up crew. If you are interested, contact Val Grout at 879
2252 or Dcnise Haskins at 879-2008. Please stop by the tribal offices or phone to talk about
work or other information about the Pow-wow.
Election Committee Seeking New Member
The Election Committee has an opening for a new member. Please fill out an
application if you are interested in being on this committee. Applications can be obtained
from Jackie Whislcr in the tribal offices. Review of applications will be during June.
The Election Committee has several responsibilities regarding Tribal Council
Elections. The committee oversees the voting process, counts and tallies all ballots,
establishes voting guidelines, and verifies the winners.
Chair of the Committee is Sharon Hansen.
Members of the committee check the P.O. Box two times per week for absentee
ballots, and none are counted until the polls haveclosed. All votes are anonymous. Last year,
only 254 eligible tribal members voted in the election.
DATE AND LOCATION OF ELECTIONS: The Tribal Council
Elections will be held Saturday, September 1 1 , 1 993 atthe Community
Center in Grand Ronde. An absentee ballot request form and this
year's candidates are listed below.
