Grand Ronde Royalty
The Grand Ronde Royalty Court represents the
Grand Ronde Tribe at pow-wows, parades, youth functions,
tribal gatherings, and celebrations. Being a member of the
Royalty Court allows you to learn more about traditions, as
well as the traditions of other tribes. You would have the
opportunity to meet new people, and travel to different
places. It can be a lot of fun and a great experience to grow
from. If you are interested in being a part of the 1993-94
Royalty Court and would like more information, please call

GUIDELINES FOR JR. AND SR MISS GRAND RONDE
1. Must be single, childless, and never married. If you
become pregnant, you immediately forfeit any title, prizes,
and crown.
2. Must be an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes
of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon.
3. Junior Court age category: must be 1 1-14 years old.
4. Senior Court age category: must be 15-19 years old.
5. If school age, must be attending a public or private school
full time.
6. All contestants are expected, by their conduct, to represent
the Tribe, their family, and themselves with integrity and
gracious spirit at all times.
7. Must attend all required events (pow-wows, parades, fund
raisers, organizational meetings) unless absence is
prearranged with the committee.
8. Must be drug and alcohol free. Any misconduct will result
in the immediate disqualification from the Court and you
will not be allowed to enter again.
9. Must be willing to speak in front of large groups of people.
10. Must be fully dedicated and prepared to represent the
Tribe in a positive way.
1 1. Must show good judgement by not participating in any
activities that would bring adverse publicity to yourself or the
Tribe while you are a member of Royalty Court.
1 2. Must be willing to dance. (If you don't know how, you will
be expected to attend classes offered by the Tribe.)
13. You need to make at least one article for your regalia.
14. You must have knowledge of tribal history.
15. Failure to meet any of the above requirements may result
in disqualification from the Royalty Court.
16. There may be other requirements not mentioned here.
Applications must be received by 5:00 P.M. on
April 30, 1993. The first required event will be the Pow
wow Committee Meeting on May 20, 1993 in Grand
Ronde.
HonoraryCourt Requirements
As a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde Honorary Royalty Court you will be notified and
invited to participate in upcoming events. (Pow-wows,
parades, meetings, etc.) Since you will be representing
yourself, your family, and the Tribe, you will be expected to
abide by the following guidelines.
1. Must be an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes
of Grand Ronde.
2. Must be 6-10 years of age.
3. Must always show respect for elders and your parents.
4. Must listen and follow instructions.
5. Try to do your best at all times.
6. Willing to actively participate when attending functions
as a part of the Grand Ronde Honorary Court.
7. Be on your best behavior.
8. Must treat other Royalty Court members with respect.
9. Must have appropriate regalia for all events.
10. Willingness to learn about your culture.
Royalty Luncheon
WHO'S INVITED: All young ladies between the ages of 6
19 who meet the guidelines for the Grand Ronde Royalty
Court.

WHEN: April 25, 1993 at 11:30 A.M.
Guest Speakers include Kathryn Harrison, tribal
Elder and judge for the Grand Ronde Royalty Pageant,
Heather Crow, Miss Lakota 1991-92 and the coordinator of
the Miss Chemawa Pageant, and past and present Royalty
will be available to answer any questions and tell about their
experiences on Royalty Court.
There will be demonstrations of each of the Women's
Pow-wow dance style. These include Women's Traditional,
Jingle Dance, and Fancy Shawl. There will be example of
regalia for each of the different dance styles.
There will also be packets available with information
on appropriate regalia, how to make different items for your
regalia, where to purchase material needed to make your
regalia, schedule of local pow-wows and booklet explaining
what a pow-wow is and each of the dances.

Tiny Tots Royalty Category
To be eligible for Tiny Tots Royalty, girls must be
an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand
Ronde Community of Oregon.
Age Categoiy: 5 years and under
Must have regalia
Must be able to attend Royalty Pageant, Grand Ronde Pow
wow, and Parade in August
Judging based on raffle ticket sales onlythe girl who sells
the most raffle tickets will receive a sash and small crown
during the Royalty Pageant on Friday, August 20, 1993. All
participants will receive a sash.
There is no deadline to enter, all tickets and money
must be turned in to Royalty Committee no later than 5:00
P.M. August 20, 1993. Please send a current photograph of
your child for the newsletter. All proceeds from the raffle
ticket sales will be used for the Grand Ronde Royalty
functions. Any donations or raffle prizes are welcome! Fill

This employee will be assigned to assist the Forestry
Staff in a variety of program activities, primarily related to
timber sale preparation such as: collecting road design,
timber cruise, logging profile, timber sale boundary traverse,
and other field data necessary for analysis, design, and
preparation of timber sales on the Grand Ronde Indian
Reservation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of one year of study and pursuing an Associate
or Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Natural Sciences
curriculum at a community college or university
Ability to work independently or with other people and
follow instructions
Must be in good physical condition and be willing and able
to work outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions
Must have valid Oregon Driver's License and good driving

SALARY: $32,000-42,000 Regular, Full-time
REPORTS TO: Executive Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Grants Developer is a grant writer position to
provide the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde with
specialized technical support and professional expertise in
the development, initial implementation, and monitoring of
community development plans and activites. As a primary
responmsibility the Grants Developer will initiate and
complete the preparation and submission of grant and
program funding proposals and applications to meet identified
community development needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A. in Planning, Public and Business Administration, or
similar field OR a combination of equivilant education and
employment experience. (Experience must be in tribal
planning or related field.)
Knowledge of federal rules and regulations applicable to
program funding source.
Demonstrated technical ability to write plans and proposals
and success in submission of the same.
TribalIndian preference applies.
