Teany was born in 190 land is the daughter of Jane Menard and Andrew Smith, who named her Teany because she was a very small baby. Her grandparents were Peter Menard and Elizabeth Shangaretta. She married Henry Miller, abuilding contractor, and has lived in many Oregon towns including Portland, Salem, and Newport. Elmer Tom, 91, the oldest male tribal member, and Pauline Johnson, who will be 88 this month, were honored at the 3rd Annual Elders' Honor Day in Warm Springs March 19, 20, 21. They were each given a Pendleton blanket from the Tribe. Council Nominations Nominations for Tribal Council candidates will be held at the May 1993 General Council Meeting. Any duly enrolled member who will be 1 8 years of age or older on the date of the election is qualified to be a candidate. Any eligible voter may nominate a candidate from the floor atsaid May meeting. The candidate must be present at the meeting to either accept or decline the nomination. SHORTTAKES...
