Grand Rande Royalty
The Grand Ronde Royalty Court represents the
Grand Ronde Tribe at pow-wows, parades, youth functions,
tribal gatherings, and celebrations. Being a member of the
Royalty Court allows you to learn more about traditions, as
well as the traditions of other tribes. You would have the
opportunity to meet new people, and travel to different
places. It can be a lot of fun and a great experience to grow
from. If you are interested in being a part of the 1993-94
Royalty Court and would like more information, please call

GUIDELINES FOR JR. AND SR. MISS GRAND RONDE
1. Must lie single, childless, and never married. If you
become pregnant, you immediately forfeit any title, prizes,
and crown.
2. Must be an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes
of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon.
3. Junior Court age category: must be 1 1-14 years old.
4. Senior Court age category: must be 15-19 years old.
5. If school age, must be attending a public or private school
full time.
6. All contestants are expected, by their conduct, to represent
the Tribe, their family, and themselves with integrity and
gracious spirit at all times.
7. Must attend all required events (pow-wows, parades, fund
raisers, organizational meetings) unless absence is
prearranged with the committee.
8. Must be drug and alcohol free. Any misconduct will result
in the immediate disqualification from the Court and you
will not be allowed to enter again.
9. Must be willing to speak in front of large groups of people.
10. Must be fully dedicated and prepared to represent the
Tribe in a positive way.
11. Must show good judgement by not participating in any
activities that would bring adverse publicity to yourself or the
Tribe while you are a member of Royalty Court.
12. Must be willing to dance. (If you don't know how, you will
be expected to attend classes offered by the Tribe.)
13. You need to make at least one article for your regalia.
14. You must have knowledge of tribal history.
15. Failure to meet any of the above requirements may result
in disqualification from the Royalty Court.
16. There may be other requirements not mentioned here.
Applications must be received by 5:00 P.M. on
April 30, 1993. The first required event will be the Pow
wow Committee Meeting on May 20, 1993 in Grand
Ronde.
HonoraryCourt Requirements
As a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde Honorary Royalty Court you will be notified and
invited to participate in upcoming events. (Pow-wows,
parades, meetings, etc.) Since you will be representing
yourself, your family, and the Tribe, you will be expected to
abide by the following guidelines.
1. Must be an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes
of Grand Ronde.
2. Must be 6-10 years of age.
3. Must always show respect for elders and your parents.
6. Willing to actively participate when attending functions
as a part of tch Grand Ronde Honorary Court.
7. Be on your best behavior.
8. Must treat other Royalty Court members with respect.
9. Must have appropriate regalia for all events.
10. Willingness to learn about your culture.
Grant Crowned Grand Ronde
Pow-wow Queen
Tribal member Neesha Grant, of La Grande, Oregon
was crowned 1993 Grand Ronde Pow-wow Queen at the
Tribe's Restoration Celebration last December.
Neesha's parents are Steve and Jackie Grant, and
her grandparents are David and Emma Leno.
She was born November 1, 1978, in La Grande and
has lived in Northeastern Oregon all her life.
Neesha enjoys horse back riding, camping, and
hanging out with her friends. School organizations Neesha
is involved with include Marching Band and Student League
Organization. She attends La Grande High School. In the
future Neesha hopes to attend a Pac-10 college and major in
social work. She had this to say about being selected Pow
wow Queen: "I am honored to have the opportunity to
represent the Tribe through the Grand Ronde Royalty
program."

In the Matter of the Name Change of: Kody Lawrence

ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE
RE: NAME CHANGE OF MINOR

On December, 23, 1992, petitioner RANDALL L.
LENO filed a petition on behalf of his minor child, KODY
LAWRENCE GOLLON requesting an order from this
court changing applicant's name from Kody Lawrence Gollon
to Kody Lawrence Leno.
Based on the allegation contained in the petition
and good cause appearing therefore,
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that RANDALL L. LENO,
TAMARA GOLLON, and any relative of Kody Lawrence
Gollon of the first degree that has interest in this matter
appear in the Tribal Court of the Confederated Tribes of the
Grand Ronde Community of Oregon on Thursday, February
18, 1993,at 1:30 P.M.,oras soon thereafter as thematter may
be heard, to show cause, if any they have, why their petition
for change of name should not be granted.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the petitioner
shall cause a copy of this order to be served upon Tamara
Gollon at least ten (10) days prior to the date set for hearing
on the petition and that the Clerk of the Court shall cause a
copy of this order to show cause to be published in the Tribal
newsletter prior to the date set for hearing on the petition.

shall obtain from the Clerk of the Court proof of publication

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This employee will be assigned to assist the Forestry
Staff in a variety of program activities, primarily related to
timber sale preparation such as: collecting road design,
timber cruise, logging profile, timber sale boundary traverse,
and other field data necessary for analysis, design, and
preparation of timber sales on the Grand Ronde Indian
Reservation.
DUTIES:
Assist with timber cruising by measuring heights and
diameter
Assist with locating and designing logging roads by
measuring slopes, distances, and horizontal angles
Paint, flag, and tag timber sale boundaries
Collect field data for logging profiles and input data info in
computer
Assist with timber sale boundary traverses by measuring
slope, slope distance, horizontal angle data in the field and
entering data into computer
Assist with slash burning and mop-up by using pumps and
hoses
Other related tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of one year of study and pursuing an Associate
or Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Natural Sciences
curriculum at a community college or university
Ability to work independently or with other people and
follow instructions
Must be in good physical condition and be willing and able
to work outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions
Must have valid Oregon driver's License and good driving
record

Bid Proposals Welcome
The Grand Ronde Tribal Forestry department is
accepting Bid Proposals for one-year road maintenance
services contract. This announcement is an invitation
to bid on furnishing all equipment, labor, supplies,
supervi sion, and insurance to perform Road Maintenance
Services for the Confederated Tribes of the Grand
Ronde Community of Oregon. Road maintenance work
to be performed will typically consist of road brushing,
using mechanical brush cutter; grading roads, using a
motor grader; hauling and spreading patch rock, and
using a loader, dump truck, and grader; cleaning culverts,
ditchlines, and bank slough, using a backhoe and a
